If you can't afford a place which allows you to park your cars in a garage and you're done with college, something is wrong. If you have to trade things like a garage and places to park and having a building just to yourself just so you can live in a particular city, perhaps you should live in a different city.

LOL. Some people don't care enough about having a private parking space like you. Some of these folks own $1+ million rowhouses/condos. You do know a single private parking spot can go for $100k+ in a city like Boston, SF, NYC, etc?

Stop trolling...

people who reserve parking spaces with garbage cans or lawn chairs or whatever make me rage.

I won't park there, but as I'm walking back to my apartment from wherever I parked, I'll toss them onto the curb where they should be.

I'm not trolling. If you want to live there, fine. Just don't bitch about it and then defend living there as if you like it and want to live there.....well if you do why are you bitching about it?

I see both sides of this. What if you shoveled out two feet of snow from the space right in front of your house, drove away, and then someone immediately snagged it, leaving you no place to park?

Legal, yes, but wouldn't you feel a bit put out?

In many established urban neighborhoods, people respect the "rights" of the digger out, enforceable by law or not. It's common sense and mutual respect, really. Of course, it only takes ONE "I don't care and the law is on my side" asshole to disrupt this fragile equilibrium for everyone.

Oh I understand. So you have the right to judge every one on a public forum, but they don't have the right to type up a simple rant? Ah well thanks for clearing that up for us.

Sounds like another place I wouldn't bother to live.

So you wouldn't live anywhere with on-street parking? Or do you go camp out at a prospective new place to live for a week or two so you can park your car there and see how it plays out?

LOL!
Another example of ATOT self pwnage!
Everyone brags about their >$250K houses, but they don't have driveways or garages?

I gave $80K for my home, can get 2 cars in my garage, and no less than 3 in MY OWN DRIVEWAY. (Live in the boonies with a ~20 min. commute to my former workplace, lower cost of living FTW).

We now return you to your regularly scheduled whinefest.

it's all about trade-offs.

I moved from a place with a driveway to street parking last summer. I'd definitely take my current residence over the last any day.

I'm paying less money for more space, the down doesn't completely shutdown after 8 pm, and I'm a 20 minute train ride from the heart of Manhattan.

if I have to park on the street a block or two away once in awhile, I don't mind the trade-off. it's easier to walk to my usual parking spot under an overpass than to shovel out an entire driveway anyways.

???? You live in the boonies. Nuff said.

Parking spots in the city go for more than your house.

I wouldn't live somewhere that has ONLY on street parking and not enough on street parking for everyone to be able to park in front of their own respective house.

I guess my point is - don't buy or live in a place that has no place to park your car if you own a car, and if you do, then don't bitch and whine about it on a forum.

Why not, it was just a light hearted rant/ humous anecdotal story that I thought a few might enjoy.

Maybe you should lighten up and take the sand out of your vag.

A great story, well written and anyone who has been in similar situations appreciated it.

Some social misfits, who don't get it, just had to use it as an occasion to tell us how great their stupid little lives are, and how we should all live like them or else we are idiots.

Sorry, no humor found.
That's because you have no sense of humor or to be more blunt, any kind of sense at all. When you were abandonned as a child they debated whether they should put you in a Kennel with the rest of the mongrels or an orphanage. Lucky for you they ran out of space at the Kennel.

Can't say I've seen anyone around here bragging about >$250k houses. In a lot of places that's a pretty average house.

But you just seemingly bragged about living in bum-fuck-Kentucky. Be honest, by 3 cars in your driveway you mean 3 cars in your front yard. :awe:

Garfield, KY is not Bumfuck, Kentucky. Garfield is a good 30 minutes outside of Bumfuck. I'll have you know that Leachfield has the best pump and piss on the whole Western KY Parkway.

I know I've been to Garfield but I can't remember why. I must have been doing something at Ft. Knox.
