Low cost All In One !

I'm planning to buy a cheap value for money All In One for home.
My average print 5 pages per day.
Please recommend a consistent performing and robust All In One.
What will be the cost of Cartridge and how often I have to change it ?
Please recommend one with a review if possible.
By the way,which one is better canon MP145 or HP Deskjet 4288 ?

Short answer, neither.

Get one of the remaining chipped Canons all in ones that use the Pgi-8 and Cli-5 cartridge line. They have may more ink for about the same price in each cartridge, and will print way more pages.
And now that the chip is cracked, you can get very cheap third party cartridges or refill your own.

Cost is relative: Cheap up front will likely eat your shorts over the long haul. Spend a bit more up front and it will turn out cheaper over the long haul. I generally agree with Lemon Law. The last generation of Canons have great TCO over the long haul assuming clone tanks or refill your own (even with OEM tanks the TCO for that generation of Canon will be less than others using their own OEM tanks).

A easy question to ask, but it covers a very wide field of possible printers, be they all in one or not. And some Canon all in ones have specialty extra features, be they a better scanner, some include faxing and others do not, and some have more ink tanks than others. But to give you two cracked chipped model numbers, the mx700 and mx850 would cover a few, and are listed on the Canon website.

The new printers with chips unlikely to be cracked for years models use the pgi-221and cli-221 line of cartridges. And in MHO, are best avoided.

Doing your research by cartridge required may be slow, but its sure, don't ask the sales clerk, they probably do not know, do your own research and be sure.

But as Canon phases out its older models, bargains can be had, and once they are flushed out of the supply chain, they will sell even used at a big premium.

Be aware that the prices are rising on the remaining stock of the previous generation Canons when one would expect that they would be blown out as "obsolete" Canons were in the past. Well, the few remaining models from the chipless tank era are still selling for original list or more. The low TCO makes up for the higher up-front cost. These can pay for themselves relative to OEM ink costs in the first year or less depending on how much you print.
