Low refresh rate on the Win2kpro splash screen?

What is up with the low refresh I get on the startup splash screen? it does 60hz/30khz. For 95/98/me it does 71/40 or something higher. I can see it flashing and its kindof annoying even though I only see it for a few seconds. Does everyone else have this problem?

my system does that too. I'm no exper on Win2K yet, but it seems that the startup screen is before drivers get loaded. Therefore, it's using the default "DOS resolution". If I'm off base here, please let me know....

Why would you care about the refersh rate during the splash screen?

 

That happens to everyone. It's kind of stupid but you have to realize that that splash is shown before the display drivers are initialized. That is why the splash is a crappy 640x480x16-color image. You would think their flagship product would have a prettier splash screen.

I think under Win9x they can use VESA to set the mode/refresh rate, that's why the splash looks better there.

Turn your monitor off until you get to the login screen.

It would also be less noticeable if the splash screen could only be changed to a black background.

 

It would be more useful if they did not have a splashscreen and let you see the NT Kernel loading like in NT 4.0. There has to be a way to disable the splash screen. It's so annoying and yes, the low refresh rate combined with the white background is blinding.

at the Start /Run type boot.ini this opens it in note pad.
find ..Professional"/fastdetect and below that enter /noguiboot this
eliminates the windows splash screen.
