Low water pressure after replacing faucet.

So I replaced an old crappy faucet at my parents place with a newer one that I had from my place. The faucet I replaced it with is a max of 4 years old and I swapped it out of my bathroom about maybe 2 years ago or so.

Previously to putting the faucet on, the older crappy faucet had good water pressure. The new one literally only lets out a trickle. When it was installed in my place I never had a problem with water pressure.

Just wondering if any of you might have some ideas why all of a sudden the water pressure died. Any ideas I can try to test why it happened?

Start easy, take off the aerator and see how the pressure is, maybe when you closed up the valves it freed up some debris that just clogged it right up when you turned on the water again.

Like shower heads, some faucets have flow restriction inserts. If it has one, you can remove it.

If that's not it then there's blockage in the line or the shutoff valves aren't opened all the way.

What TLC said above. It's possible that your newer (actually, it's likely) faucet restricts the flow to 1.6 gallons per minute or whatever it is. Your parents old faucet had no restrictions. BUT, the difference is that your bathroom has higher pressure & flow to the faucet, where the parents have lower pressure & flow to the faucet.

Drill out the flow restrictor.

Check to see if you turned the shut off all the way back on. As others said....check the aerator isnt cloggled.

I vote for dirty aerator or clogged supply tube/s.

There could be several things that are causing this, many have already been mentioned.

1) clogged faucet screen

2) kinked supply line(s)

3) supply valves not fully turned on

4) clogged lines

5) faucet valves could have some kind of debris-hard water deposits, sand/rocks, bits of old washer, etc.

I'm sure there are several I haven't mentioned, but fuck it...I'm still fighting the dammed flu and I'm tired.

Well my mom ended up "fixing" it. While I was looking up answers on google and posting this thread, she went to use the bathroom, turned on the faucet and it just works like normal now. No idea what the problem was, but it works now, so who cares. Thanks for the suggestions

I hope not, but I haven't had any urges to root around in mud, nor has my peenor turned into a corkscrew...so maybe I missed that one.
