lower back pain

im only 33 and already have lower back pains. it all started with the birth of baby boy. picking him up and carrying him around is no joke, especially now that he's 18 pounds.

i have an inversion table and that i use 15 mins a day. seems to relieve pain somewhat but off course it comes immediately back when i pick baby up again.

any solutions to this??? meanwhile i will google around for exercises or natural remedies because i definitely dont want to use pain killer drugs.

I'd suggest you consider posture, exercise, and seeing a doctor.

I'm thinking you might be lifting up your son wrong (bending at your back instead of your knees).

I'm thinking that perhaps a bit of exercise will help strengthen the muscles so that they take some of the load off your back. I'd think some core strength training. As an added benefit if you are just 10lbs overweight, losing a few pounds off your belly will help reduce the strain on your back.

I suggest that you see a chiropractor. If you find a good one, he / she can help relieve the pain while teaching you what to do to avoid it in the future. I love my current chiropractor (a sports doctor). He has no interest in keeping me coming back over and over. He wants to help me, teach me, and then not see me.

I had not thought of chiro because I heard they are not reliable. Good to know you have a good one. Did your insurance pay for everything?

check your hamstring flexibility and your hip flexibility. more often than not its this. While working on your flexibility work on strengthening core muscles and your form.

Like every other profession there are good chiropractors and not so good ones. My last chiropractor wasn't a bad one, he just would keep me coming back for adjustments and then taper me off after a few weeks. I like this new guys approach much better. I found him through my local running shop. It's a good sign when EVERYONE there LOVES him. I have a $20 copay for my insurance. No better, no worse compared to what I pay every other doctor I visit. I've heard of some doctors skipping your copay if you are really tight for money. I wouldn't expect it, but if you are really tight, you can always ask (in private).
