Lower your CPU temp by 10 degrees C in 10 minutes!

Following advice I read here, I finally decided to...

Clean my damn heatsink.

And booted up to a CPU temp 10 degrees lower than normal.

And folks, that's only what I could pick up and put on a sheet of paper. I found my gun cleaning kit worked extraordinarily well in cleaning off the heatsink, BTW.

I have noticed a similar effect ever since i started using thin fin style heatsinks. With a high cfm fan those things catch a lot of dust pretty quickly. I now make it a habit to give my entire case a good cleaning once a month including popping the fan off my SK7 and hitting it good with the canned air.

I'd rather have like 3 Hoovers all pointed right at the heatsink, and THEN air can it.

Using canned air was bugging me because of lack of good pressure and too short bursts of air. So I finally bought a spray nozzle for my air compressor. It's so nice to have unlimited air at up to 100psi.

Three things come to mind.

1. 
   If you were missing a hamster or younger sibling, I think you found it.
   I dont wanna know where those small hairs came from.
   EEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW!

It really helps if you keep your computer off the floor.

Two years. I'd never dusted it before.

The hair is from my long haired cat. Her hair is in everything I own. She's looking forward to furring up my new system.
