I just built my comp and I used the mobo's temp monitor to check the temps and came up with this (Haven't tested under load yet) CPU:32C-34C, Sys: 35C-40C , GPU: 59C and up? Is this the motherboard or is the graphics card getting thet hot? I'm going to add more fans this weekend but I just wanted to know if this is normal or what? Pls help!

CPU: 3500+ (Venice) w/XP-90
Motherboard: DFI Nf4 Ultra-D
RAM: PDP DDR 3200 (1gb)
Video: EVGA 6800 GT
PSU: Ocz Modstream 520

yeah, the 6800GT run pretty warm.
anywhere from 50 to 60C is normal for the idle temp on that graphic card.

that is a perfectly normal idle temp for a 6800GT. I use a program from here to get my load temps. It will fully load both your cpu and gpu. Before I put the waterblock on my gpu, I was using an arctic cooling NV5 silencer, and my idle temp was 60, and my load temp was 79-80.

that is normal, mine idle is 54C and load 76-81C (81C only when playing HL2)
anyone try the copper heatsink from evga, debating on getting it?

I dunno, sounds high to me.

My Ultra had 48 idle with the evags reference cooler (which is much fatter than the GT one).

My XFX 6800GT (overclocked to Ultra speed) runs at 95c after a few hours of HL2. I cook grilled cheese sandwitches on the video card in between deathmatch rounds...

Mine is right in there with the others, with NV5. If run at ultra speed will get up around 70, but at half that or stock stays around low to mid 60's.

Im running the NV5 (with AS5) also on my 6800GT. With it clocked to Ultra levels Im idling around 55c and hitting the low 70s with long gaming sessions...

It all depends on what type of cooling you have around the card. Mine idles around 65-69 because the only cooling in my p180 for the card is the stock fan/heatsink on the card. I'm not concerned about it though.

mine only really hits 60c when under load, its idle temp is about 48 or so. I do have a 60mm fan sittin on top of hte card blowing across it though, and my case has 8 fans in it.

60 degrees for idle is fine, really nothing to worry about. you hit 90-95 then you got a problem.

you could lower those temps with better airflow in your case or some aftermarket cooling. Like a zalman or NV Silencer. When I installed my NV silencer on my evga 6800gt the temps lowered 10-12 degrees, but I am getting a zalman in a few days.

Why? Is a Zalman better than an NV silencer? the silencer has direct exhaust too...

The Zalman is a tad quieter and cools a tad better. It does not exhaust though and thats what I like about my NV5. I just use SpeedFan and connected my NV5 fan to my mobo (w/ an adaptor) and control it from there. Works for me.

The Venice is relatively cool-running, so you're fine there. 59c is sort of warm but not out of the ballpark for a NV6 with stock cooling. More fans will help as long as you have the right ones in the right places. If you want to buy yourself some overhead on the GPU replace the stock cooler with a well-reviewed after market solution.

As for my GT, it's at 49c with a 35c ambient right now. This reported by the driver using the cards onboard sensors.

right now I have the NV silencer, teps at idle are between 49 -53 but it makes almost zero contact with the ram on my 6800GT, I had to mod it to make contact with the gpu and I guess that I went a bit too far, soooo I ordered a zalman, I havent gotten it yet but I think that it is going to be better than the silencer.
its your choice on the brand both are good from what I hear, more the zalman than the silencer.
