I would care, except there's nothing to care about.

You care because of games they made a long time ago.
That Lucasarts was pretty much already dead, so who cares that the studio holding the name Lucasarts has been shut down?

If they were producing really awesome games still, I might care, but while the old games they made might have been great, I can't think of much from within the last 5 years, or even 10 years, that was that super special from Lucasarts.

That was my first thought as well, it's been a long time since I cared about a star wars game (or movie for that matter). Maybe now some will lease X-wing vs Tie Fighter series and redo them.

Get that license into the hands of other dev houses that actually want to do something with it. I think this will be good going forward.

Plus, they were all probably grossly overpaid for what they were doing because they had been doing it a LOOOONG time. I would imagine at least some of the staff will be migrated over to another studio along with whatever they were working on at the time so they might finish it up at a much cheaper price.

RIP. I will always remember the good days when the 'lucasarts' brand meant the game would be amazing. That was true up until the debacle called Rebellion. :/

Shutting them own is definitely justified, but still sad IMHO.

i believe that was my first cdrom game.

My friend had Tie Fighter and we played it all the time when I was at his house because my family didn't own a PC back then. My first CD-Rom game was Dark Forces. My aunt gave it to me for Christmas gift but she bought me the MAC version. I had to go exchange it at Best Buy(I think, its been a while).

I picked up that box of Tie Fighter for 50¢ at a yard sale last year, just couldn't pass it up.
