Luggage parts....?

So I bought my wife some new luggage for Christmas. We flew to Utah a week ago and when she got her new Samsonite Luggage back from the baggage claim, the feet on the bottom have both cracked and one of them is missing. (the second is barely hanging on)

We talked to American Airlines and they stated that they aren't responsible for wheels or feet or handles. I've contacted Samsonite, but they have not replied via Email yet. A call to them stated that I could contact a repair center, but that's 100 miles away.

I'll fix the stupid thing myself if I can find some parts. Anyone know where I can get the plastic feet they put on rollers from a place that makes good ones? The replacements from Samsonite will likely be crap. I'm thinking some nice sharp stainless steel ones.

Samsonite is not great anymore. We bought one of the medium size "Spinner" line. I took it on one business trip and the top zipper ripped completely off.

I personally won't buy another Samsonite again.

I got my wife a Wenger backpack last year. It was made in China and managed by a company called Group III International based in FL. Her backpack was 4 months old and the bottom ripped out when the stitching failed.

I took a few pictures and emailed them to their support and they shipped me a replacement... I was impressed by their warranty support, but the ease of the transaction proves that they deal with that kind of request pretty often. I'm seriously considering only dealing with LL Bean from now on. They're a TON more expensive, but they will ALWAYS back their products.

I have Samsonite from several years ago, and I think it depends on what "line" you buy. I've seen the same pieces from different lines that were vastly different prices and quality. Mine have held up very nicely, and I've taken them all over the place -- I have the Silhouette 7 series (medium & small rollers plus the carry-on).

Call the repair center and tell them what you need. My wife's feet had cracked on her new bag en route overseas. Samsonite told us to call the repair center.

They are making them crappier, but at the same time our 'airlines' staff is equally of poorer quality.

We called and they just sent us two new ones no questions.

I heard Eagle Creek has a lifetime warranty on their luggage. I know a few guys with Tumi branded luggage, a bit name brandish, but they have not had problems.

I have considered Tumi but I am reluctant to spend that much money on something that'll get beat to hell in the airport.

Buy the Ricardo set at Costco for $150 or so.

My set has lasted me more than a dozen flights and more than 10 road-trips while being banged on concrete stairs, through snow, and untold abuse.

So far no major damage and they still work like a champ. At $150, its not too expensive to replace.

I bought a cheap plastic tub from walmart, wrapped a ratchetstrap around it and travelled to three continents with it. Total cost: $7.
