Luke Warm deal on RAM (128MB $99)

From a latest SPAM email I got from a e-retailer I bought froma while back.
Their service is pretty much a roller coaster, but the price is pretty right. Last time I bought RAM from them it was infineon chips, not too bad.

I think it's amusing that in hyping some of their more expensive
memory, elsewhere on the site, they say something like "Tired
of cheap memory made in Taiwan that is incompatible with many
of today's motherboards...then buy THIS expensive stuff."

You get the idea.

That's funny 'cause 1) I thought much/most of today's memory
was made in Taiwan; and 2)I have not seen any correlation between
compatibility of generic memory and "today's motherboards".
Correlation with overclocking ability? Yes. Correlation with
specialized memory characteristics such as ECC? Yes. But I have
yet to come across any non-defective generic PC100 (or PC133)
non-ECC non-buffered SDRAM stick that wouldn't work on any
non-overclocked system.

Actually I have a 256Mb stick that does not register in my abit Bp6 motherboard as 256, the BP6 only sees 128Mb (and yes the BP6 accepts 256Mb DIMMS) So I have seen SOME "incompatabilty" but not to the point were it just plain old wont work.

How's there service and reputation? I didn't see their records in resellerratings.com, so i want someone to back up if this is a reputable company or not first. I can really use the ram, since i only have 64 megs.

Like I said, kind of a rollercoaster. I have had VERY good luck with them, but friends have had HORRIBLE luck... true hit and miss it seems.

I forgot to state that I was talking about 32/64/128Mb sticks.
You're right: There CAN be compatibility issues for 256Mb
sticks...In fact, a lot of boards that are lenient about
what they'll take for 32/64/128 are very specific about
the specs for 256 (e.g. 256 has to be registered memory
even though smaller sticks do not)...

Is this memory compatible with chipsets designed for Socket-A.. mainly like the Abit KT7?

OT, but how the heck do you know if memory is compatible with athlons anyways? i have infineon chips, i wonder if those'll work...
