I like sprint, but I hate how they don't have any MS phones.. (or barely). I know they invested too much into apple and android, but I really want that 920!!! damn it!

They actually had the most WinMo hardware back in the day. When WP7 caught on they only got one. And it wasnt a great one.

I think he meant when it was released

But if WP8 will catch on like apple, then it'll be like waiting for the iphone on sprint: only when it's insanely popular. They already got burned by the pre (which is my favorite OS so far, but of course, it's still insanely slow)

I think WP8 will do a lot better than 7, but it's going to be difficult for them.
They certainly won't see the explosive growth the iphone had. The market was very different when the iphone was released.

There's a guy on WPCentral that swears he has access to some fairly high level info for Verizon and says that Verizon will be getting a 922 (or similar type number) in time for Thanksgiving and big Red will be pushing WP8 devices heavily via Black Friday sales.

Take that for what you will...

How well does the WP8 app ecosystem stack up to iOS and Android? I'm talking about core quality apps and games here, not raw numbers.

I'm thinking that's fairly accurate, actually.

Well, there still isn't an official Dropbox app. Or Pulse or Flipboard.

Honestly, as soon as the Windows Phone 8 SDK was announced and how extremely similar it was going to be to the Windows 8 SDK, I wouldn't have bothered making a Windows Phone 7 app either (and that announcement was several months ago).

Basic idea with Microsoft is that if you write a Windows 8 app well, it shouldn't be that hard to make a Windows Phone 8 version. The core code should be exactly the same, with some minor changes to the UI from the Windows 8 snapped view, you should be good to go.

Finding a competent C#/XAML developer to join your team is 1/2 the battle, and once a company has decided to make a Windows 8 app (which I think few large companies like Dropbox and Flipboard can legitimately avoid), making the Windows Phone 8 version is small potatoes in comparison.

Flipboard will come to Android tablets before it hits Windows Phone. I can be wrong though if Google continues its pathetic half-assed tablet strategy.

Gotta say that even though the Lumia 920 sounds like a fantastic device with some growing momentum with WP8...the chatter and buzz around the Note 2 is really starting to get my attention.

I know they are two very different devices, but both of them are sort of flagship devices of their respective OS and have their own unique functions. The Note 2 appears to be one of the more innovative devices released yet.

Both of these two really have my attention and it depends on what happens with Verizon and the Nokia offererings. I'm just not sold on AT&T's coverage in my area to make the move to them or ST for the 920.

What are the advantages of Dropbox over Skydrive?
Integration with non-Microsoft services, the fact that other people are already signed up for it, Microsoft's rather invasive TOS...

There's no official Google Drive app either.

On Android, Skydrive plugs into the share api the same way GDrive or DropBox does. I would imagine the iOS sharing limitations remain. Could you elaborate on the limitations of integration? I don't have experience with SkyDrive beyond using it on Android and Windows.

I don't understand what "having other people signed up for it" would matter in a discussion about storing personal data. Does the quality of the service increase that way? If you have a Hotmail, you already have a SkyDrive account, so there are people signed up, possibly in numbers larger than DropBox.

Lumia 920 is an exclusive to At&t because that is their marketing strategy. Nokia only wanted one carrier per country to sell it. Seeing there is plenty of buzz surrounding the phone, it is easy to second-guess that strategy.

For Verizon, they most likely will have at least the Lumia 820 and HTC 8X. At&t will probably have the 920, 8X, and ATIV S. No word on what T-Mobile will have. Maybe the 8S, but this is just a guess.

I want to say this is ONLY for the US....

No official Google Voice app either. That is the deal killer for me. I need Google Voice as I use it for every call.

Why do you use it for every call?
He's probably giving out his GV number and pretending his official number doesn't exist. I've just started doing this, as I didn't know how transparent "use GV for every call" really was.

Still, I don't think this is a hole in WP as much as an Android-specific feature.
