I have a couple charging stands for my webOS HP Touchpad, and out of curiosity, checked to see if it would charge my Lumia. It does, but you have to position the phone about an inch from the bottom lengthwise until you see the charging indicator appear.

On a positive note of WinPho8 I have to give major kudos to the interface between bluetooth and text messages. It's brilliant.

When I'm in the car and a text comes in a voice prompt (that's much more natural sounding than Siri) comes on and says "Message from 'Jessie'. Would you like to have it read?"

You can say yes and it will read the message. When it's done it asks you if you would like to reply or end the conversation. If you say "Reply" it will then ask you to say your message. You say it and then it'll read it back to you. You can then chose to keep it, redo it, or end it. When you are happy with the dictation you can send it back.

Very cool. I guess this was in WP7 too, but it just had very little press compared to Siri. This is one of the best uses of voice recognition I've used in a phone.

My lumia 900 did all that. For some reason now with the 920, I don't get the option to reply anymore

It's my understanding that Nokia dropped some of the BT profiles from the 900 to the 920. I wonder if there's some incompatibily due to that.

Be careful, for me the Touchpad wireless charging dock does initiate the charge indicator, however it will not actually charge the device. I was still seeing the battery % drop while on the stand.

Good to know. I didn't get a chance to see if it charged or not, other than seeing the indicator come on. My charging plate should be arriving sometime next week, I hope.

Finally got to play with the Lumia 920. It's a nice phone but I got bored with it after 10 minutes.

One thing I really like about it is that you can use Office on it.

Keep an eye on Amazon - two months ago when I knew I was getting this phone, I ordered this guy: http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-Qi-E...s=energizer+qi

Back then it was only $19.98 so it may drop again. It works really well. I wouldn't pay $68 for it, but for $20 it was a solid deal, especially since it can charge another device if I ever get one, and has a USB port for charging a 3rd.

Made a few phone calls, surfed the net, checked emails, connected to wifi/hspa+ and bluetooth set on. Played a little bit of games and have been off the charger since 7:20am in the morning. So far I'm at 72% battery life. What are you guys at? Currently, 3:16pm.

After a week and a half with mine, I can say the battery sometimes seems amazing, other times it's very questionable. I can say that I've not seen any of the extreme cases as described by vi_edit or others around the net, but there are definitely problems with it. I'm not quite sure if it's the phone or the OS, though.

Since I've had the phone, I have wifi enabled, NFC on, Bluetooth off, non-LTE 4G on, automatic backup on, usage statistics on, battery saver on, Exchange account syncing constantly, POP account checking every 15 minutes, Facebook and Twitter account configured. I let it run down until it turned off on the initial charge and then charged back to 100%. I didn't block background apps until about this time last week.

At its best, it's only lost 7% while sitting overnight doing nothing for 9 hours. At its worst, it's lost 17%. Those are the only times I've been able to directly compare. Sometimes, it feels like it is the best battery ever, other times I wonder why it's getting as low as it is. Today, I took it off the charger at 5pm to leave work, browsed reddit for 25 minutes straight over non-LTE 4G, downloading pictures and general comment reading, then it sat for 2 hours up to this point without being used. Battery free right now at 2.5 hours is 89%. On a bad day, that would be down at like 65-70%.

I do think this will get sorted out eventually with a patch, I'd have to imagine it's a top priority at Microsoft and/or Nokia.

Question for guys that have had some wonky battery life....

Go into settings --> apps --> photos & camera

Do you have the location checkbox enabled?

The first several days I had my phone I had that turned on. I turned it off the middle of last week and through the weekend and the beginning of this week my battery life has been almost night and day different.

For shits & giggles I flipped it back on today and my phone blew through 15% of battery life in a little over 2 hours in standby mode.

honestly, has way better battery life than my one x. i really appreciate the 32GB of space as well... I'm down to 6GBs left after all the songs I've downloaded + games/apps/videos. Some of the alternative apps are pretty awesome (metrotube, 4th and mayor). Can't wait for some usual games... like temple run and all that other bullshit... I wonder if it's going to be free. Seems a lot of stuff ARE not free.

Hmm, you may be on to something. My battery life improves greatly when I turn off GPS completely. I'll try just turning off location for the camera.

Unfortunately there's about a dozen different location based service items buried across different menus so it's a PITA to test every one of them. That was one that just stuck out with me and another couple people at WP Central.

Another thing that I've noticed is my life gets considerably worse while at work. I'm on wifi at work and have excellent cellular coverage. One thing odd is that when doing location based services over internet based locators my location is off by about 15 miles(that's nothing unique to the Lumia, my iPhone does that too). My GPS based one is about 3 miles off. I'm curious how the phone handles location services that have a lot of disparity between the two and if there is any thing related to that.

Wow, there is some serious automatic price gouging going on. I bought the charging pad a week ago for $58.

$72 now. :\

Considering the Nexus 4 is practically unavailable, I guess demand is due to either the Nokia Lumia 920 or the Droid DNA. I guess that's a good thing, because I'd rather have the qi standard win than to have to deal with the Power Mat Alliance.

Anyone have a great pair of in-ear headphones with mic and volume control they want to recommend? I'm thinking about going with the nokia purity but am not really keen on spending $100 on them

Anybody else's have random apps shutting down on them almost immediately after you've launched them? I reinstalled these apps but they're still doing the same shutting down business.

Only app I had blow up on me was Slacker (which is a HORRIBLE port of an app BTW).

I had something fun happen to mine tonight. Had it on the charger. Heard the vibrate function go off, walked over thinking I had a text message. Was greeted by a black screen with "NOKIA" in the middle. It was hard locked. Let it sit for about an hour while I worked out. Came back. Still froze. Was able to kick it free with the soft reboot (hold down volume and unlock button for about 10 seconds). It restarted and without losing all settings thankfully. My battery life has improved from last week, but I'm still at about 50% after 8 hours of very limited use. If I had any power use it'd be dead in 4-6 hours. Just not where I want it to be. I might get more with a replacement device, I might not.

Next week I'm going to be returning it and moving over to a Note 2. I love the ambition of the WP8 and the concept of it. Same with the Lumia. But there's just too many teething issues that I'm not able to work through.

If the ecosystem and hardware matures in two years I'll revisit. But I'm moving on sadly. I just need access to more apps that I use daily and a bit more freedom (apps, battery, expandable storage, ect) that I can get in the Note 2.

Shot in the dark here, but just for the sake of trying, see if having WiFi enabled (or any other connection function) prevents the immediate app crashes.

I checked out this phone thoroughly at an AT&T retail store today. I'm completely sold on it. I'll buy it tomorrow at AT&T ($450 + tax, includes free induction charger). Seems to be the best deal to date without a contract. I'll be using it on Straight Talk, so I won't get LTE (only up to HSPA+) or visual voicemail, but everything else is good.

The phone feels amazing and it's as smooth as a hot knife through butter. The Xbox Music (what used to be Zune Pass) subscription is amazing and I'll definitely be using it. That's actually one of the biggest selling points of the phone. I don't mind paying $15 per month for the convenience of having any song I want at any time, all while automagically integrating it with the entire phone and PC experience.

My needs are really simple. I don't play games at all, so that's a non-issue (iOS wins there). But the big non-entertainment winners for me are email and Office. Exchange support is top of the line (duh) and allows be to smoothly handle multiple email accounts. Yes, iOS claims to do this, but it's a hack: you can't have different signatures for each email account on iOS. You have full control over this in Windows Phone 8. Plus the keyboard/typing experience on Windows Phone 8 is very good. I'm not used to the size of the phone yet, so I'm not quick, but I can seriously see some great potential. The text input is context sensitive, unlike Apple's. Heck, I started to type "int" and it finished with "internet," followed by "s" which completed to "service," and finally "p" completed as "provider." It's 2012; it's about time we get this feature in a polished product. I don't count Android; I don't think it has nearly the polish of iOS or Windows Phone 8.

The whole experience is very integrated. I just love it. You can do pretty much everything you'd ever need to do right in the default OS tools. Then all your wants can be done with apps that just feel like part of the phone due to the Live Tiles and integration with indexing/search.

Microsoft really nailed it. It has some quirks, but I'm more inclined to think that MS will incrementally patch them than Apple would.
