How's battery life on the 920?

mine has kind of been back and forth. Like many the first 2 or 3 days were kind of crappy but I let the phone drain all the way down completely and then charged it back to 100% and battery life improved a ton. But now it's still a little back and forth. Take for example yesterday, unplugged at 6:30am, moderate usage throughout the day but minimal talk time, at 9:30pm i still had 40% left, saying another 9 hours. Thats FAR FAR better than any smart phone battery life i've ever had. But there are days where i have the same schedule, but maybe more talk time thrown in and it'll clock out at about 7:30pm so it's hard for me to be the judge.
over on wpcentral it seems like most are having GOOD battery life after draining the battery a few times and or doing a factory reset.

One thing I've learned is not to use the Windows button to back out of apps or settings screens. It leaves them running in the background. Use the back arrow. A few times I found I had three or four things still running. Hold back button to check and quickly double click to close the extras. Not sure if this what you have to do to close but it works for me. Either I am being more careful or one of the settings updates helped because I haven't seen this for a day or so. Battery life has been generally good, about 15 to 20% during the workday compared to 30 to 40% on the HD7.

Well, most apps don't really run in the background when you hit the windows key - they enter a suspended state, which allows for quick restoring at their previous state. Only a small subset of apps - mainly, GPS apps that have been updated for WP8 - truly run in the background. Hence you need to be careful with Nokia Drive. That's one you definitely want to "back out" of to ensure it's really closed.

Got that tip from Nokia.http://www.nokia.com/us-en/support/...oting/?action=singleFAQ&caseid=FA136400_en_US

Makes sense considering one of the only apps that truly runs in the background is a Nokia app

How's battery life on the 920?

Generally pretty good. I've never had it die on me, though I've been more aggressive in turning on airplane mode in areas where I know I don't have signal simply because of the building structure. Wireless charging is amazing, I don't think I've ever plugged my phone up to the wall.

I think it'll get through the average person's day.

One thing that I noticed is that it's not the brightest in switching over to wifi for data. If I was in an area with poor reception strength, but still a signal and an active wifi connection it'd still try and push traffic through the celluar connection instead of using wifi. Would eventually time out and then give you a data error. I'd have to turn off celluar data and force it over to wifi that way.

I really like this phone. The only thing holding me back is syncing with my Mac. I don't want to "upgrade" to Mountain Lion to use Windows Phone 8 connector app.

Is there any other way to get media from my computer to the phone and have it in a usable form (keep playlists)? About the only things I would want on the phone is my music and maybe a movie or two.

Can this be done with Skydrive? Never mind that requires Lion or above.

Google Drive is not available for WP8 yet. :-(

Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Odd, I'd say Mountain Lion fixes a lot of the idiosyncrasies that Lion had. And with OS X going to yearly updates, I'm not sure you can hold off for much longer. Releases are going to get outdated and lose support a lot faster, though hardware shouldn't be incompatible for arbitrary reasons.

I just lol'ed. I've been off charger since 7:30am(2 hours) and with moderate usage I'm at 95% but the part I lol'ed about was the time remaining: 3 days 4 hours. hahah man i wish! but this battery has been getting better and better since day 1

Reminds me of my old Surround. I leave it in airplane mode and just basically use it as an alarm clock, I charge it every couple weeks or so. But if I ever check the battery life in the settings it always undershoots the time remaining, I think it isn't expecting that usage, namely... no usage.

I'm still on Snow Leopard. It's rock solid so I don't want to "upgrade".

Anyway, I've decided that being an Apple household entails too much work to use Windows Phone.

So I ordered a Nexus 4 this morning. Too bad though. I think the Lumia 920 is one of the best phones out.

I was under the impression you could copy and paste music...is that not the case?

Why are all the reports for the 920 sales saying it's just due to low supply? High demand is high demand, whether it's in stock or not. I don't get it.

Here I am, posting from my 920. Overall, its very good, but it has its quirks. It's seriously super fast and smooth, very integrated, and is a good experience. My biggest complaint is that there doesn't seem to be any good synching options for my Music Pass collection. Tips are appreciated...

Nokia Drive is pretty good, but it only says the street name once. I would rather have it repeat, like any other GPS. BUT its the most fluid and quick navigation device I've ever used!

Talk-to-text is very good. I just wish it was offered in more places, like this text box I'm typing into right now.

The predictive text is the best I've ever seen, although it does miss some pretty obvious things like capitalizing the first letter of the first sentence of a new paragraph. Only sometimes, though. Odd.

OneNote on the phone is surprisingly good.

Email support is stellar; I have 3 Exchange accounts set up and I can keep them beautifully separated, just how I like them. But you can combine them, if that's what you want.

The mobile internet explorer is quick and smooth, just like the rest of the phone.

If I had to complain, the list is short. First of all, the lack of a hardware silencing switch is a step backward. Also, the sound scheme is all over the place volume wise. For example, the dial tones are louder in volume than the ringer - WTF? And while I love the seamless Facebook integration, it's just a hair too limited, so you'll still need the Facebook app anyway. Finally, when texting, the send button is not on the right side, which feels awkward.

I much prefer this phone over the Galaxy S3, which I came very close to buying. I'm glad I waited.

How many times will the phone repeat audible alerts, for example, when a text message arrives? Also, are there any apps to make it repeat audible alerts indefinitely?

I think right now( in my experience though I haven't really been paying attention) it does not repeat any reminder. You get the sing when the message comes in and that's it. I can appreciate others wanting to customize this. Personally one is fine for me.

Text messages give one alert and that's it. No option for a follow-up if you don't check it. One of the features I've missed when I moved to WP7.5 from iOS, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

I finally managed to check this bad boy out in store yesterday, and wow; so fluid and awesome!

Among the many things tested, I checked the camera and it didn't seem all that for day shots? Granted, I had to fanagle the security fastener out of the way of the lens, but the sharpness and grainy feel that's been reported was not seen. Have they already patched a fix for well lit algorithms? I thought it was well lit in the store, but just in case I also took some photos pointed directly out of the large windows in the front of the shop. All seemed pretty good to me...

I hope Windows Phone 8 does well.

That being said I have no reason to switch from Android.

#1 reason is SiriusXM app. I use it daily.

Why is syncing Outlook calendar such a pain on Windows Phone? Heck syncing Google Calendar works fine.. It's these little things which makes Windows Phone look unfinished as an OS

Is there no way to sync to iCloud? Android can sync to iCloud through 3rd party software, which is why I felt comfortable enough to order the Nexus 4 (although it's a 2 month wait).

Also, what about syncing with Google's calendar and address book?

What about MKV with DTS playback?

Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread.
