M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Sound Card - $54.88 @ CompUSA YMMV

Saw this today while I was rummaging around in the local CompUSA (Hoover, AL). Appears to be a manual clearance markdown so YMMV. They had two on the shelf. SKU is 300197. Could not find it at CUSA online. This sound card seemed to be popular a few months ago with the music crowd.

Honestly, it's not that much better than an Audigy. You really can't tell the difference.

This card has superb audio, better than Audigy or Audigy 2. Audigy 2 is supposed to be better for gaming. I don't know, I bought it primarily for music and rarely game. Excellent deal if you can find it at this price.

I went looking for the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 last night, and could not find one in Houston. Defeated, I purchased the Mad Dog Entertainer 7.1...

Guess what? Same chip as the M-Audio Revolution!

I pulled off the Mad Dog sticker, and found an Envy 24 HT chip. For info on this bad boy, go to Via.com.

For $29.99 AR this is a smoking hot deal.

If you go looking for this card you might want to have a sales person check the SKU in their inventory system. They may have some that are not on the shelf. You know how well CompUSA is organized.
