I can agree with that. I didn't start getting irrationally angry about the movie until the aliens showed up. I'll avoid ranting, I've complained about that pile of crap more than enough.

Why are people complaining about aliens showing up? What did they expect? Leprechauns?

If the aliens didnt show up, you'd be crying that there were no aliens.

It was an enjoyable film, what did you expect?

i mean the preview for lady in the water made it look like some scary/freaky movie, then you watch it, and it's about some fairy tale fake ass crap with dogs made out of grass and a stuttering lead.

I've like all of his films except Lady in the Water. You're right, it's absolutely horrid. I've heard he was trying to make some fairy tale story for his kids, hence the simplistic dialog and plot. But I don't know how true that is.

I like Unbreakable the best though.

its almost like he keeps trying to recapture what he did with the sixth sense....

at this point why not try to direct a regular movie, not another oooh scary with a twist, he seems to think either this is all that will work for him or that people expect that from him.

What did I expect? Something more. He built the suspense beautifully, the unseen enemy, the sense of menace, the fear of noises and shadows. Hitchcock himself would have been proud of the first half hour of Signs. And then the aliens are defeated with a glass of water. Leprechauns would have been better. Anything would have been better. A glass of freaking water? Attacking the aliens with Fluffernutters and Diet Dr Pepper would have been better than just plain water.

Negative. I disliked The Grudge and HATED Dark Water, but they look like Godfather I and II compared to Lady in the Water. I don't know that I have ever seen a worse film than Lady in the Water. It really was unbelievably stupid and pointless.

Shyamalan lucked out when his first major film, 6th Sense, was SO well received (and, IMO, somewhat overrated). I liked Unbreakable quite a bit, probably more than 6th Sense, but everything since then has been crap. Actually I thought the Village wasn't AS bad as most people did, and certainly better than Signs or LITW.

There's no way his movies could be worse than anything Uwe Boll has put out. As much as I hated Lady in the Water, I don't think it compares to Boll's movies.
