What am I hearing about this movie? The trailer makes you believe that this is set in the 17th century, in a quiet little town, surrounded by monsters in the wood. There is some truce between the town and the monsters to stay on their respective sides. But then something changes, and that is the movie.

WRONG! The monsters aren't really vicious monsters, as one would imagine. But they are actually....... ok I won't say it. But if I told you, you would be like WTF mate?

Based on the trailer, I sorta thought it was about the Amish being victimized by some outsiders and having to defend themselves. I guess I misunderstood. Hopefully it will be better than the dreadful Signs.

I actually thought Unbreakable was his best movie, and was quite original. I know a lot of people dislike it, but I thought it was really interesting.

i agree that it was his best. i dont think it was very original, but i love me some comic books...especially comic books set in a "realistic" tone. apparently, that was to be the first in a trilogy but he didnt make enough money so decided against it.
if that story is true, it lets you in on why his other films are lacking.

You mean aliens that are so advanced that they have mastered deep space travel and advanced cloaking technology but never thought about wearing a spacesuit or *ANY* clothes when leaving their home environment?

Nothing is what it seems in his movies. The suspense is what people pay to see. If he wants to be "pigeonholed" that way, that should be fine by him... people know him by name.

As far as the machine theory, the movie takes place in 1897. What machines would have been around back then?

There is another theory of the plot based on actual events in a similar town in PA. It seems that some spore from the village's crops were making people go crazy. They would kill each other, just walk off or have hallucinations. I fine that more plausible than the machine theory, script leak or not.
