I don't quite get all the anger. He was being an idiot by pushing it on that road, yeah, but it looked like he at least had a clear line of sight to see if a car was incoming. I'd probably rather drive around this dude than most of the shitbags I have to on a daily basis. At least he wasn't weaving across an interstate while travelling 15mph under the speed limit while applying makeup while eating McDonalds while talking on a cell phone.
And the airbags went off, at least initially, for (go figure) rollover protection. Usually only found on pricier cars, and usually SUV's, at that. But he hadn't struck anything when the side bag blew, so it would've had to be triggered by a sensor telling the SRS module 'hay thar, I don't think I should be at this angle.'
Pretty good testament to modern safety systems. And steel.
edit: my question is, how the fuck did the camera survive that?
