im going to want firewire eventually, im wondering if I should just get this and get a firewire card when I need it, or just got with the asus A7N8X Deluxe, im getting impatient in building this computer..
There are less expensive Nforce2 boards with firewire than the A7N8X Deluxe, if you want to go that route. The Biostar M7NCG-Pro
$90 delivered, for instance. It has onboard Firewire, plus 5 PCI slots, onboard video & MCP-T (Soundstorm?) audio. It is a slightly older version of the chipset without official 200 FSB support, but I'd probably run a 133 FSB XP overclocked to 166 FSB anyway, not wanting to shell out for expensive faster PC3200 RAM. Besides, it has onboard GeForce 4 MX video, which will save you a bundle if you're not a gamer or want to build a dual monitor box.
Another option if you prefer Asus is the A7N8X-LA. It starts at about $91 and also has onboard video, but only three PCI slots. Supposedly it was designed by ASUS for HP.
Of course, you can buy a PCI firewire controller card for as little as
$8.50 these days.
