GameVe.com has a link to the rebate form on their product page. CompGeeks does not. I'm inclined to go with GameVe. The Geeks might not be "participating."

Damn, but I am gonna stick with my order, gonna fight this out. One side note, I went to Biostar USA website. If you look at the "where to buy" section and under US online retailers, you do not see GameVE anywhere listed! Who knows, GameVE might have just slapped the rebate link to sell more, because they are not responsible for the rebate in anyway.

Print out a copy of the web page showing the rebate wording and link. It *may* come in handy somewhere down the line...

CRAP!!! I ordered and received the wrong motherboard. Got the non-pro version. didn't notice the "P" for Pro

So no rebate and spent more and got less. Damn that was dumb.

Sorry had to vent.

The guys who got the motherboard,

Did you get the USB bracket and the StudioFun CD with this motherboard? Most Websites (including eWiz) show it as optional

I ordered this 2 months ago from Newegg. It did not come with a USB bracket and the only CDs it came with are the installtion CD and a CD with Norton Ghost, and Antivirus 2003. The mobo fits any case with a standard backplate.

I built up my current system with this mobo about 2 months ago. It has been very stable so far.

I did receive the CD's and the USB2 plate with my mobo. As a note.... go to Biostars web site and download the online manual. The one that comes with it sux. The one online is a little better.

Also when installing don't forget to clear the cmos. I didn't do that and it almost drove me crazy!

And yes...... I was remaining silent above. Now all doubt has been removed.

I've got two of these boards -- one from Newegg and the other from GameVe.

The Newegg board did not include the StudioFun CD. The GameVe board did. Both boards came with the USB plate, Install CD and Norton pack. However, neither board's Norton pack came with the 2003 version of Ghost like they were supposed to. They both had older versions. I called Biostar tech support and they sent me the correct CD. Contact Biostar at 626.581.1055.

Just as an aside, the Norton pack CD that came with both my Newegg and GameVe boards inidcated by name on the CD label the correct version of Ghost. It wasn't until I started the program itself that I became aware that they both were older versions.

In other words, just because it says Ghost 2003 on the CD, doesn't mean Ghost 2003 is actually on the disc.

There are less expensive Nforce2 boards with firewire than the A7N8X Deluxe, if you want to go that route. The Biostar M7NCG-Pro $90 delivered, for instance. It has onboard Firewire, plus 5 PCI slots, onboard video & MCP-T (Soundstorm?) audio. It is a slightly older version of the chipset without official 200 FSB support, but I'd probably run a 133 FSB XP overclocked to 166 FSB anyway, not wanting to shell out for expensive faster PC3200 RAM. Besides, it has onboard GeForce 4 MX video, which will save you a bundle if you're not a gamer or want to build a dual monitor box.

Another option if you prefer Asus is the A7N8X-LA. It starts at about $91 and also has onboard video, but only three PCI slots. Supposedly it was designed by ASUS for HP.

Of course, you can buy a PCI firewire controller card for as little as $8.50 these days.

I ordered from ewiz and the USB and Studio Fun CD were included. Problem was that I haven't been able to get it to run stable!

RMA in hand and a decent person on the phone at the other end (15% restock).

I had a friend order it from Newegg and his is stable and he's happy with his.

Oh well, lemons is lemons and I'll try for some lemonade

They do have refurbs of both these boards now. Asus is 69 and this board is 51 no rebate necessary. Obiously white box with no accessories.

im really thinking of ordering it, but neither gameve.com or ewiz.com are on their retailer list, which makes me think they might not support the rebates from them?

I called the number on the rebate form and asked them which retailers where good for the rebate.
She asked my for the Department number (56001) and looked something up. She said that they
would honor rebate from any retailer. I bought from ewiz and sent in the rebate a few days
ago. I'll let you know in a month or 2. But even $60 shipped for the board is pretty good!
