Ok.. i have an Alienware m9750 that likes to kill hard drives. Twice now I've installed a hard drive just to have it crash less than two weeks later. Both were loaded with Vista (one 32 bit home and one 64 bit ultimate), basic drivers installed, and no programs that would really tax the laptop in any way (no games). It has one m8700, a 2ghz Intel pccr, and really just basic m9750 hardware. Both of the hard drives were Seagate Momentus SATA internals (one 80gb one 200gb). This laptop runs pretty hot but I don't really think that it it hot enough to destroy a hard drive. I'm at a loss. I see only four possibilities: 1) heat 2) power spikes 3)laptop design flaw 4) hard drive design flaw. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!
