MA sales tax holiday Aug. 11 & 12

Massachusetts 5% Sales Tax Holiday.

This weekend!

I think the $2,500 maximum is per item.
And, as per usual, does not apply to cars or boats or meals or tobacco products.

August 11'th and 12'th.

I assume competition will drive B&M (Bricks and Mortar) to all have fairly good sales.

A two 'fer (sale and sales tax holiday) is a good thing.
Toss in a few nice rebates and we'll all be broke, again!

Ah, the People's Republic of Taxachusetts. Just a day that makes it more convenient than shopping in nearby sales-tax free New Hampshire where there are big box stores lining the border to attract all the Massholes!

you guys are so lucky. hell you start off at 5%.

i live in the highest sales tax region of california i think. 8.75%! and somehow with 8.75% tax they still cant get enough cops to keep oakland from doubling the murder rate this year.

although it may be a tax free weekend, doesn't meant he prices are as good as they ever been. Seems like it's just a cop-out to boost economy.. So much hype when you only save less than $100 depending what you are buying. Just for those freak impulse buyer to get excited about all the hype everyones like "what? no tax? I'll take that fridge with the tv on it. I save $150 in tax!" It's those people (sometimes me to be honest) that when they buy stuff try to think of reasons to purchase something, even though you don't have a good solid reason, you end up amking up some fictional ones so you ahve a good story when you get home. I remember when i bought my 2407wfp.. I was like well now i ahve a tv for college and it is great for graphic design (im not a graphic design major) and I got a great deal on it and sold my old monitor etc.. Just be happy your not on the road in all the traffic this weekend

Well, I think it's a good thing but unfortunately the timing is bad for me. I'm moving into a new house later in the year and it would have been nice not to have paid tax on a washer/dryer, sofa, tv, shed, etc.

lNo sales or income tax in NH. There is an 8% meals tax and a variable, but high local property tax. Governmental services are at a minimum, although there is no lack of police and firefighters with their concomitant excellent pensions a la Massachusetts. An anecdote that goes around is that before we got caught in the '80s, we used to put homeless and welfare on a Trailways and ship 'em to Lowell and Lawrence in MA. Avery creative way to solve the financial problem at the time.
