Mac Mini + DVI

Do I need a special adapter to get my Mac Mini connected to my Asus 22 inch monitor? It doesn't seem to fit right...

You'll need to buy the Mini-DVI to DVI connector. I have one for my MacBook to hook up to my 24" panel and it should run you around $20 for the Apple branded part.

EDIT: Does the back of your Mini look like this?

Do you have the newest Mac Mini? That comes with a Mini DVI->DVI adapter

I have a 1.83 GHz Mac Mini, it's old.

The original G4 Mini had a full DVI port, and we know its not that one.

The very first Intel Mini also had the full DVI port.

Every model since then has had the MiniDVI.

OP, snap a pic and show us what you are talking about.

It looks like a full DVI port but I'll give a DVI plug a try again. I'm just afraid of breaking it.

Are you using a DVI-D or DVI-I cable? Is it a cable that came bundled with your ASUS monitor?

Well, you know how there on the DVI port you have the 4 pins off to the side in the square configuration, with the flat pin dividing them? I know that sometimes Apple's flat pin was narrower than most, so a lot of cables/adapters wouldn't work. However, the DVI-VGA adapter sold by MonoPrice does work, so I would assume that their DVI cables will work too.

I plugged it in, the monitor didn't recognize it though..... I don't like using VGA it looks so blurry

Well that sure is a strange problem. Hrm... I'm not sure what to recommend here.

Ok, so you had the DVI cable from the Mini to your monitor, and you are positive that it was nice and snug and screwed in on both sides?

Ok, so you had the DVI cable from the Mini to your monitor, and you are positive that it was nice and snug and screwed in on both sides?

additionally, on monitor input has to be switched to DVI form VGA
