Mac Mini problem :: Floats in water

So i got a mac mini yesterday and ive been trying to install stuff on it, but it wont start up. ive tried to get into the bios but it wont let me. this computer icon thing just stares at me as it starts up. like some sort of "hey lets stare at the user and not start up properly" icon.

So I put my xp disk in and it wont even recognize the disk. i tried pressing c at startup but it does nothing. just that demonic icon.. always stareing.....

what to do?!

I know this is a troll, but...

Modern Macs don't show the smiling Macintosh icon anymore, they show an Apple logo and a little spinner animation during POST.

Macs don't have a BIOS, they use OpenFirmware like a Sun workstation. Hold down command-option-O-F during inital statup and it'll drop you into the OF console.

If you were to stick in a WinXP installer CD when booting a Mac, it would either eject or ignore the disk and boot off the default hard drive anyway.

halfadder: the white screen with the apple and throbber is the splash screen (equivalent of the Windows splash screen). POST happens when that startup tone sounds the the screen is black. When the splash screen comes up, you can't boot the from cd, or enter open firmware, as one would expect. You'll notice that if you hold down option while the black screen is up (POST), that a boot menu will appear instead of the splash screen. When you select a boot device, the splash screen will appear (for AHT, it's a computer with a face on it like in OS 9 and below).
BTW, if a mac can't boot, it will show a floppy disk with a flashing question mark on it, in the middle of the screen.
