Hey...is it possible to install Mac OS X on an external firewire drive? I want to use my external firewire as my main disk and the hard drive inside my Mac Mini (75% slower access) as my secondary.
Thank you for answering my question. I searched google, but I just might not be searching for the right results. Does anyone mind pointing me to a source or giving me a quick walkthrough on how to do it?
You don't really need a tutorial. When you boot from the OSX installer disc, go under the installer menu and open disk utility. Format the external drive, then when you go back to the installer it will be availible as a choice.
Hate to say it, booting is only from firewire on OS X from ALL the information I have read on the net. I have an external USB and have never gotten it to work, have yet to run out and get a firewire though to try that.
