Mac Pro 3,1 Video Card

Today I had the luck of acquiring a Mac Pro 3,1. Unfortunately, it is missing both a video card and hard drive. I can get a new hard drive easily, but the video card is very confusing. From some ebay searching it looks like the officially supported cards are way too expensive for what they are. Can anyone offer some advice? I'm not 100% sure if this card will work.

Update: Just figured out that it won't work out of the box like i thought. Although I'm still looking for a recommendation.

If you can find a hybrid BIOS card, that is the best option. There are also some PC cards that can be flashed to allow that startup screen to work on a Mac. I just recently flashed a GTX 680 for my Mac Pro by following these instructions.

Update: Just figured out that it won't work out of the box like i thought. Although I'm still looking for a recommendation.

Ok problem solved, I found a 5770 mac edition for a reasonable price.

I know this is too late, but here it is.

You don't *have* to have a Mac Edition card, or even a flashed PC card. There are certain PC cards that work fine unaltered, with the single exception of showing the gray screen with Apple logo at bootup -- the monitor stays dark until after OSX has been loaded. Basically, the drivers are in OSX, but it doesn't have the right firmware to talk natively to the UEFI. I have a PC 5770 in my Mac Pro 1,1 and it works fine. I still have the 7300GT Mac Edition that came in it if I need to have 100% compatibility, or do something in the UEFI before the OS loads. I think that most PC 57XX, 67XX, 68XX from ATI, and the 7600/7800/8600/8800 from NVIDIA will work.
