Mac users Are Weird

I used to work in the Mac Department for CompUSA and Micro Center. All I have to say is that Mac users are some of the most arrogant, cheapest, freakiest people I've ever met. These people would come into the store and harass people of which computers they had. They would spend hours on the Mac either running Quicktime movies or how I can make the department better. Some of them would volunteer just for the love of the platform. Their favorite day of the week is Saturday. Saturdays are Macfests. These people come into the store and just stay there for hours, talking to each other about their personal lives and how the Mac has changed them. Sometimes, when a customer came into the Mac deptartment to get a dual-platform product they would jeer. It's sad.
Whenever Steve Jobs makes an announcement, some of these fanatics would demand that the store have a satellite link so that everyone could see their cult hero. If the manager failed to comply, they'd publicly boycott the store. When their master finally came on stage and announced new products the fanatics would get really loud in order for everyone to hear. Some of them would even cry during the show.
I knew of a few customers that have an Apple logo on their arms, legs, and a few other unmentionable places. Everyday I'd be forced to hear about the virtues of Apple and the vices of Microsoft.
One day a fanatic even came into the store and offered to purchase the iMac dummie displays for a Mac-oriented party. When the manager turned down his offer he became very loud and rude. He eventually stole the dummies.
I'm not sure if the best psychiaterists in the world can help them. These people need strong treatment to get off that "Reality Distortion Field." Once Fall rolled around for me to go to college I got the hell out of there, tired of them and their Photoshop benchmarks. I vowed never to work in another Mac department again due to the constant nightmares that ordeal has brought me. Whoever said that ignorance is bliss wasn't lying.

LOL. I use a Mac for some work, and I know exactly the types of people that you're referring to. I'll NEVER go back to a mac user group meeting since the one where I got yelled at for remarking to a friend, &quot;I'd like to see a mac that can do what my Athlon can for the same price.&quot; Even IF an Apple representative was presenting a new OS, behaving like a baby is behaving like a baby.

Make fun all you want. My Mac is still more productive and useful than my PC (G3 266 vs PIII 933 &amp; Athlon 700).

My company uses Macintosh soley for production work. PCs would be a waste.

And yes, we can be a religious, bullheaded group. But there are plenty of PC users who are the same. I've never camped outside of CompUSA for the new release of Mac OS.

I have a friend with a mac. I'm running WinMe, and i like to &quot;tinker&quot;, but that POS that he has crashes 1000 times more than mine (i think I've crashed once since xmas, if that). Besides that, you can't do anything on it except surf the internet basically. A week or so ago he told me the damn thing was producing this burning smell, and they aren't using it a whole lot, although it is in sleep mode alot. Apparently the thing has no case fan That's not to mention all the crap that happens on our mac network at school. Damn, they are suck.

Macintosh is kinda like Punk rock.
Not a lot is being done, but lots of people are still fanatics and still discussing it like its still going strong.

I work with many Mac cultists. While most of them have pretty much given in to the fact that the Macintosh platform is, on a whole, toast, there are still a few die-hard fanatics leftover. I don't know what it is about the rinky-dink OS and cheesy fruity-colored computers that turn them on so much.

We even have a Mac shrine with an Indigo iMac and G4 Cube. All the Mac lovers go in and get boners looking at the cheap plastic, all looks, systems and brag about how the Mac is the superior platform and the release of OS X is going to be better then the second coming of Christ.

Every time there is a Jobs speech they all sit around the next day looking at the Apple web page like it is a pr0n site. The day the new G4 Powerbook was announced it reminded me of the scene from American Pie then the main kid has the naked foreign girl in his room.

Maybe I am being a little harsh on them all. I mean guess it's cool that they like the systems. But, there is really nothing computer-wise that I would ever get that excited about.

I'm a Sound Designer for a video game company, and we all run PC's. Some of the artists are really into the Mac, and so the IT guys constantly mkae fun of them. It's pretty funny to hear the Mac people try to say how much better MacOs is to Linux.
I also attend a recording school, and almost EVERYONE there is a Mac fan. It's really quite wrong. They spend all this time talking about how great it is to own a Mac. I used to argue, but it's just a waste of time now.

Took the words right out of my mouth, If Mac is so good why is it so far in the gutter. SGI makes some of the biggest known Graphics system's known and they only have Intel and Alpha processors, no Rainbow Motorola in sight.

But by your logic, Microsoft fanatics are okay. It's the mac fanatics that shouldn't be. That makes perfect sense.

You have to understand, I come from both worlds. In my house, I have and use regularly, a mac, a windows PC, and a BSD Unix box. I happen to prefer my Mac (and it's &quot;klunky&quot; OS) over any of them. I guess you all can't respect or understand that.

It seems odd to me that these people that consider themselves individualists are actually slaves to Steve &quot;Blo&quot; Jobs. Whatever he says they agree with. When someone disagrees with him they bash that person for being evil. When he publicly admits a mistake (which is extremely rare) they say he's only human. These fanatics must love fruity things because everytime &quot;Blo&quot; Jobs dishes out a new fruity mac with some fruity name (like &quot;Flower Power&quot; or &quot;Blue Dalmation&quot they keep buying...hard. These people have serious issues that need to be dealt with. Sometimes I wonder if they should be allowed in public...for the children's sake.
