Why would you buy an extra part for a laptop to use an extra part when you can just buy a pc? I like mac's keyboard, mouse, screen, and easy of access, but if to use a business graphics card is such a hassel, they are useless.

You might possibly want to have the graphics power available but don't need it all of time. This is the solution we are looking into for our video guys at work to speed up their rendering times when on location.

a solution or hassel? When you buy a video card built into the laptop its cheaper and not having to buy an adapter its even more money you save. Also when your not buying a mac its cheaper.If i bought a mac with my desired setup it would be $4500 minimum. A PC would be $3500 max.

Well you see you didn't give us much information about your setup / workflow / situation. Our video guys can't lug a Mac Pro tower around to locations. Just not feasible. Carrying an external GPU does work. That works for them. Hackintoshing is not something that is viable in an office setting.

Your tone is going in the wrong direction. It's not "wtf. Why can't Macs to this? A PC can do it and for $****". This is a place to ask, "I want a MacBook Pro, how can I get it with pro graphics?"

We can't help that Apple doesn't supply you with what you want but we can do our best to provide a solution (No consultation charge too!)

Also not all businesses need workstation / pro graphics cards.

Laptops also have more uses than just run applications that benefit from specialized hardware accelerated graphics. For example I primarily use my laptop for PHP and web development type work. I get plenty of use out of it. No where close to useless.

There is no cheaper alternative than buying a Mac. No other manufacturer sells computers that runs OS X.

I still believe your last line is wrong. You may need it 100% of the time but may not be true for everyone else.

Well if you would like a MBP your only options are:

1. Get a Thunderbolt adapter

Unfortunately that's about it. I don't know how feasible using Xgrid might be for you but that once again is an external solution.

If you're specifically looking for a Quadro in a notebook or a desktop, it stands to reason that you're looking for stability and performance (way) beyond what anything from Apple can provide. Go elsewhere - I can highly recommend HP's Elitebooks and Z800-series workstations.

I plan to use it for CAD, Solidworks and any other software i will use for engineering purposes. Are the Z800 mobile worlstations? I need a laptop. I have two brothers who are engineers and they both told me that have a desktop is nice but for a college student a desktop is not as useful.
