machine check exception

I read the only other thread on this problem and it did not seem to be the same problem. It started while I was playing Americas army. My screen froze and I heard this crazy fuzzy noise kinda like a tv fuzz sound. I tried control alt delete and nothing. so I restarted my comp and I got the blue screen Machine_Check_Exception and the code was 0x0000009c (0x00000004, 0x80545ff0,0xb2000000, 0x00070f0f)
I have recently installed a new SATA hard drive and a tv tuner (wintv pvr 150) I have deleted and reinstalled Americas army, deleted and ran driver cleaner and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers for 6600 gt. I have also used the xp system restore to before I installed the tv tuner and hard drive. my specs are,

athlon64 3000
120gig WD SATA
80 gig WD SATA
40 gig maxtor ATA
1gig of Ram
400 watt antec smart power ps
6600gt agp vid card
Hauppage tv tuner pvr 150
Creative sounblaster sound card

Usually Machine_Check_Exception means you need to back down the overclock or give it more volts.

I un installed Americas Army and I restored to a few days ago and deleted AA again. I am not overclocking anything and I also tried to install an older game C and C Generals. the comp got to 95% installed and froze. I hit reset and tried it again. This time it finished the install and I started the game. The game froze up and started the weird fuzz sound just after the startup screen.

do the different numbers matter then? Could it be the power supply is not enough? It only does it during games. The tv tuner runs great and the comp starts and runs just fine. It is only during games. The Vid card has been running great for about 2 months.

Hate to say this, but it sounds like your memory is bad. How many sticks do you have, and how much total is it. If theres more than one stick, try taking one out and using only one at a time while installing a program that previously froze. If it freezes on one, try the other to see if you get the same result.

You should run MEMTEST86+ all night (at least 12 hours) to see if the memory's stable.

i memtested for 8 hours with no problems/errors...

Just a shot in the dark, but if this happened after the TV tuner install, try pulling the TV tuner and see what happens.

yeah I fixed it, with a new mobo and re install of windows. something was going wrong. I was having some other probs too. I since have had no problems. what mob do you have? I had a nforce 3 250

I have a msi k8n neo4-f (nforce 4 standard). And you only got the machine check exception error during games, just like me. And you have a geforce 6600 gt, just like me.


hmmm.. Do you think your mobo was defective or that the error came because of a compablity issue?

not sure what was gong on. I took out my tv card to see if that was the problem and it still happened. I t kept kept geting worse so I tried to flash my bios to see if that was the problem and I created another problem. so it was time for a new mobo. now I am problem free for over a month.
