Machine kicked off from the network after standby

Hi all,

I am facing a problem with my laptop . I am running win XP pro on it and i am having a broadband connection . The problem is everytime my system goes for a standby my machine lose the network completely i.e. after i turn back my machine from standby i cannot go back to internet.

While running ipconfig it shows IP address as 0.0.0.0 .

And everytime this happens i have to restart my machine and then everything works fine .

Any clues what cud be the problem ?

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom Designed it that way for (choke! choke!)
Security reasons.

You have to manually reconnect after coming out of STANDBY.

This is completely false. What you are seeing (myelvis) is not normal, but likely a problem with the network drivers (and updates for your nic available).

LiLithTecH, seriously (and with due respect), read the posts before responding. He clearly stated he is on a broadband connection and is having trouble restoring his DHCP assigned address upon returning from standby. This has nothing to do with analog modem connections.

And as for your original response where you said Microsoft did it for 'choke choke' security reasons, what in the bloody hell do you expect the OS to do with a modem connection when the machine goes to S3 or S1?
