Macs are so cool

Macs are so cool because there's only one friggin' way to resize a window, so that when your 24" 1900x1200 monitor breaks and you switch to a 22" 1680x1050 all your windows are too big and you can't resize them because the fuckin' resizer is at the bottom-right of the window, off the screen!

See, if it were a PC, all I'd have to do was Alt-space-M arrow-key and then use my mouse to resize the window to fit in the 22" screen. But of course, PCs aren't cool enough, and who wants to see 100% of a window anyway?

EDIT: Fuck, if it were a PC, all I'd have to do was hover my mouse pointer over any part of the window frame, and I'd be able to resize!

lol, i just about choked some mother fucker at a party last weekend who wouldn't shut about how much better macs were than PCs. he started ragging on DLLs, so i asked him what they were.

"direct link libraries"
"no. dynamically linked library. do you even know what they do?"
"ummm....no."

Seriously, Macs are supposed to be really user-friendly, but what's happening to me isn't user-friendly at all. I'm of the camp that feels PCs have their pluses, as do Macs (which is why I use both), but really, Apple couldn't foresee something like this happening? I could just switch to another monitor with 1200 vertical lines to fix this problem, BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO???? Resizing windows is a basic feature of GUIs!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Also, seriously, why is it necessary for Apple to berate PCs and PC users? If your product is superior, why not just let it speak for itself? Or just speak of why it's superior?

I would say that this resizing issue would not be half as infuriating if stupid Apple didn't make those stupid commercials.

It has a picture of a fucking fruit on it. A fruit.

not a skull and crossbones. Or a jetplane with chuck norris strapped to its wings. Or a snake with fricking lasers on its head. It has a picture of a fruit. A fucking fruit.

Think about it.

Um, yeah, I had to talk to some Mac user in a class for a group project, and when asked how fast his net connection was his answer was "100" said with a straight face.

haha

usually i prefer linux, especially for the UI if i can set up compiz how i like it.

for the OPs problem im not sure of the keyboard shortcut right off, if there is one, but alt-clicking in X on linux lets you drag the window as you see fit, might work on OSX, might not *shrug*

Best kind of parties. At least there you can make a joke about computers and people would actually laugh WITH you rather than AT you.

Changing resolutions is an advanced feature for hackers only. If you were smart, you would have gotten one of the Macs with the screen glued on to the inside parts so that you wouldn't be tempted to do these kinds of things to yourself.

This was actually a real party at a guy's house. The douchenozzle was the roommate's friend from Georgia. And yeah, there was alcohol and women.

None of whom either of you went home with, I'm guessing, after they overheard your argument.

The girls were foreign. They didn't know what the fuck I was talking about anyway. But I did get a number.

Although I haven't touched the vista partition on since I installed it. Still haven't found motivation to get the boot menu set up, winxp over vmware fusion works nearly perfect.

Vista gets in my way, OSX lets me work.

Although I do wish there was a way to disable global apple key combos on certain Spaces (virtual desktops), it trips me up in vwmware (ctrl 1 in excel goes to Spaces etc. ). That and Mail.app needs to get its shit together when it comes to IMAP IDLE... my iphone gets my emails faster than the desktop.
