I use a macbook pro (2009) as my daily machine
Since I quit WoW (which has Mac client), the only native Osx app I use regularly (ok.. all the time) is Safari
80% of anything else I do is in Parallels w/ XP :<

I just have this old PC from 2006 that I built myself. It's not fancy like a Mac... it hasn't broken yet either...

Works great.

Although I haven't touched the vista partition on mine since I installed it. Still haven't found motivation to get the boot menu set up, winxp over vmware fusion works nearly perfect.

Vista gets in my way, OSX lets me work.

Although I do wish there was a way to disable global apple key combos on certain Spaces (virtual desktops), it trips me up in vwmware (ctrl 1 in excel goes to Spaces etc. ). That and Mail.app needs to get its shit together when it comes to IMAP IDLE... my iphone gets my emails faster than the desktop.

serious question: do you like using that keyboard all the time? i tried one once and the lack of key travel annoyed me to no end...

Yeah,
very much actually. I love the hard stop of the keys (2mm of travel max), it feels a like a laptop keyboard. It might be in my head, but i think I type faster on it, since you definitely know when the key has been pushed.

I have this keyboard from Dell, it's great, and you can magically feel the keys, too.

No offense, but that's the same keyboard they've been throwing with dell boxes since 2006... they just added a gloss panel on top and some buttons.

I know exactly what it is and don't take offense to it, in fact, it's been around longer than that and it's about the best keyboard I have used. I've had my current unit for 3+ years.

Sorry, but thinkpads are the coolest computer EVER!

I mean, if I were given a choice - either I could get another Thinkpad, or I could get to spend a night with Jessica Alba & she'd do anything I wanted, well then, I'd choose the night with Jessica Alba. First on the agenda that night would be for her to go out and buy a Thinkpad for me.

Think about it.

Who wants a secondhand piece of fruit that someone already tasted?

I've only owned one non-Thinkpad notebook and it's a Dell. I can't say I am super impressed. It feels cheap and if you pick it up with one hand you can feel the frame flexing.

My next notebook will be a Thinkpad. I wish I still had my old 600E, that thing was awesome (Pentium 2 450Mhz, 512MB of ram, 12" screen, carbon fiber outer shell - yes really, look it up, eat that, Apple).

I got one of those from a thrift shop. I really like the small footprint, but the keys don't feel right to me. I prefer my older PS2 Dell, and for really big, my Model M is my favorite.

Yeah, I love the small footprint, the volume knob and the two, discrete USB 2.0 ports.

in the spirit of things:

yesterday i went to best buy, and for the hell of it, i walked over to the mac counter. i asked the guy about the video output on a mac mini, then i asked him how many screens in best buy have a displayport connector (the correct answer is zero). i asked him what was so great about snow leopard, and he answered "well, it's much smaller, but my favorite thing is stacks" and proceeded to show me. so what was so great about snow leopard? no powerpc support and "recently opened items"

I acquired an OSX VM to play around with. My HD took a dump, so that didn't make the cut when I was backing up files. For the week I played with it, I was unimpressed. It made things so easy, it was harder :^/ If you don't like things setup Apple's way you're screwed.

Best kind of parties. At least there you can make a joke about computers and people would actually laugh WITH you rather than AT you.

I'd probably still laugh at you.

Actually funny you talk about window resizing. I noticed something similar in Linux. While you CAN resize windows from anywhere, I find everything in Linux is so big, so like 800*600 (I like to use such resolution when working in VMs or VNC) is actually totally unusable, as dialog boxes and what not are bigger so it can fit all the buttons/text etc. One of those dialog boxes happens to be the one that lets you make the resolution higher. Just have to hit enter and hope that means OK because the ok button is actually not visible LOL. Though guess that really depends on the theme.
