I think the appeal of both computers, the desktop and the laptop, is going to be if/when it's confirmed that dual boot is possible. At that time, I'll probably buy it.

if dual boot isnt possiable that IMO would be a huge mistake

There WILL be a workaround at least

there better be, 1/2 the hype about the hardware switch is from people that want to dual boot XP/OSX on the same machine

Most likely, as the x86 developers version of OSX has been out and hackable for a while now.

However, hackable is not always elegant.

I have a 20" iMac in my cart right now but my wife would kick my ass for spending $2,000.

One thing though - wasn't os X made as a 64 bit O.S.? Isn't Core Duo a 32bit processor? Is this a big deal? Otherwise a 17" lcd system that's sleek, comes with a dual core processor and an O.S. that should be faster/more stable than any windows xp rig + the promise of professional level apps such as FCP not available on a p.c. all for $1,299? I would be very, very surprised if dual boot wasn't possible. When asked about this when the move to Intel was first announced Apple replied w/some vague answer of OS X will only work on Macs blah, blah, blah. They didn't say "no, dual boot is not possible" and of course they weren't going to say, "Yes, please put Windows on your Mac."

I consider myself having great vision, and i love the 1920x1200 on the laptop... i love having 2 browsers opened side by side. But on a 15", that would be stretching it. The text would just be much too small imo.

Exactly... I've read some interesting articles - some apple employees hate him - he has his hands in EVERYTHING... He's the prototypical visionary if you ask me. Like apple or hate them, just give Steve Jobs credit for being a ballsy, driven fellow. Remember, he was booted off of the board from the company he founded and then fought his way back to the top. He wants to take apple from 2% market share to 7% in A YEAR. That's ballsy if you ask me.

Most consumers do NOT want 1920x1200 on a 15", thats why. 1920x1200 is great for the Dell 24" monitor, not so great on a 15" screen.
