whats with the stupid 1440x900 resolution on them?

the Dell 15.4 in screens run 1920x1200

Hell no. 1920x1200 on a 15" would SUCK. I have 1920x1200 on a 17" and it's perfect, any smaller and it SUCKS.

my brothers lappy and my friend jojs lappy both run 1920x1200 on a 15.4 in widescreen lappy and it looks/works/functions amazingly especially when watching videos

it games fine also, tho that wont be an issue for a mac

Most consumers do NOT want 1920x1200 on a 15", thats why. 1920x1200 is great for the Dell 24" monitor, not so great on a 15" screen.

agreed. apple is catering to the masses... so yes, to each his own.

I really don't want a dual boot.. actually, I want to use OS X, and run XP in a virtual envirtual environment to do the few tasks I find easier to do w/ XP. Boot into if I want to game... and use OSX for everyday use.

However, the premium is insane... plus I'm biased towards getting an AMD chip. If a macbook (non pro) comes out.. and widescreen... that may work for me

how hard is it to update the memory on one of those iMacs? seems like an okay deal with it..however, a little confusing, do you get iLife06 with the iMac...? it says 79 bux for preinstallation...79 bux to install the software?

so does it come with iLife or not?

Use .Mac to share any photo album as a Photocast that others can subscribe to by clicking an email link. Once they do, your album instantly appears in their iPhoto libraries. Every photo downloads in full resolution, and updates occur automatically.

Photocasting sounds awesome.

iPhoto 6 via iWeb finally offers a nice way to publish pictures.

I THINK that they meant iWorks there, not iLife, since it says it comes with iLife.

I'm excited about the greeting cards available through iPhoto too. Their iPhoto Books are very well made. We have had two done so far and have been quite impressed.

Just something interesting i've noticed - I have not been able to find ANYWHERE on apple's site the battery life on the new Macbooks. They always used to tout the great "4 hour battery life" of the G4 Powerbooks. Wonder why its not mentioned now?

Battery life depends on configuration and use.

You are right that they are not heralding the battery life for this one.

Yes, there is... the new PCMCIA standard is the ExpressCard. The MacBook Pro features a single ExpressCard/34 slot.

Somewhat disconcerting that they don't specifically mention the battery life with the new MacBook Pro... other than that I love it. If I had the means, I'd order one right now.

So... When is Anand going to buy one of these new Intel Macs and review it? Apple's benchmarks have always been BS, so I seriously doubt that the new MacBook Pro is "4 times faster!" than the old PowerBook. I really want to know how much faster it is under real life testing.
