like shadows of mordor? Okay I will not be picking this up. Spent about an hour of Shadows of Mordor and I just cannot for the life of me play it again. It's just tedious.. Feels like work actually...

There are a couple of nagging problems I have with the game.

1. Max trusts people way too much. In the movies he never trusts anyone and is always out for himself until his better side comes out to help people in need.

2. There are WAY too many dudes running around, there must be 20k people in just a few square miles with no food or water. If they significantly increased the size of the world and concentrated the people in towns with very little in between it would have been more realistic I think.

3. The controls are a bit wonky. Maybe I am just too used to the fluid movement in Mordor.

4. Why does this new Mad Max world always have to kill the fracking Interceptor at the beginning?

Well I am not that far in the game but...

How else will he rebuild is car (assuming talking about the mechanic, again not that far into game)

2. There are WAY too many dudes running around, there must be 20k people in just a few square miles with no food or water. If they significantly increased the size of the world and concentrated the people in towns with very little in between it would have been more realistic I think.
Story/Game reasons .... it would be a pretty bad/boring game if there was only say 1000 people in the map

3. The controls are a bit wonky. Maybe I am just too used to the fluid movement in Mordor.
Not far enough to really say.. just got the body for the new card

4. Why does this new Mad Max world always have to kill the fracking Interceptor at the beginning?
Guess gotta do something... not overly familiar with the movies

I was watching Totalbiscuit's port report video and he was mentioning how good the desert setting looks(not sure aesthetically or just graphically), but I got the exact opposite reaction, its looks so dull and bland other than the sand storm.

Maybe I'm just getting sick of the post apocalyptic settings.

Steal another one or better yet don't kill the Interceptor and upgrade it.

Not necessarily. There were very few people outside the towns in the new Fallouts. Explore, scavenge, try to survive.

Fury Road basically kills then Interceptor in the first minute. How about let us keep the Interceptor and upgrade it from a regular vehicle to post apocalyptic scavenger ultra ride.

I would have really liked it, and I believe it would fit better, if this took place between Mad Max and The Road Warrior. Give us a basic Interceptor and very little survival gear and scavenge up the stuff you need to adapt and survive.

I really like the aesthetics, graphics are decent too. (Even though I am playing on PS4) Remember a huge part of the area was the ocean floor so a lot of those rocks are actually dead coral.

Note, I am not really bashing the game I do like it. Some parts are great and really incorporate parts of the movies. These are just items that, for me, would elevate the game to awesome status instead of just fun.

Really enjoying this game so far. Before release, I was basically expecting "Shadow of Mordor with Vehicles", and that's pretty much what I got. The driving is heavy, visceral and meaty. Love the car combat and watching enemy's cars go exploding into a mess of nuts and bolts.

I was worried it would be another generic, boring, brown post-apocalyptic setting, but the game actually has a beautiful, dusty aesthetic to it, and the map is deceptively filled with activities to do and things to wreck.

The game has an awesome photo mode too. At any moment you can press both thumbsticks at the same time to completely freeze the game, re-position the camera and take a cool shot. There are a variety of filters and effects you can use, but all of these screenshots here are completely untouched, other than moving the camera.

As with most games, screenshots don't show how pretty it actually is in motion. But damn it is a pretty game.

I have no idea how guys can speed run this game at even 11 hours. There's areas you just can't get into or beat without upgrading substantially. I'm at 7 and there is still a ton to do and things I haven't gotten to yet.

How are you liking it so far? What are your experiences with the upgrade system?

Like it, but the game does hold your hand way too much. Most everything is on the map, even before visiting the area. There are a few things that pop up by visiting or speaking with someone, but otherwise it's pretty easy to set a waypoint to any specific event.

There are a ton of upgrades both for max, his abilities, your car and special cars. Also can "craft" special items in your stronghold by finding certain components. For good or bad, you can upgrade everything buy Max's abilities on the fly. Yep, you don't need a garage to upgrade the car or Max's add-ons. Seems strange, but obviously meant for the casual gamer.

One real annoyance, and counter to holding hands, is when you take possession of a car in the desert, you have to actually drive it to your stronghold in order to have access to it again. You can't use the fast travel option. See, that is a hand-hold I would have loved to have.

Lol... that really made me chuckle

I have a friend who has been bugging me to buy this game all weekend.

I watched him play for about 20 minutes and I was done. NPCs everywhere, and having to sit through about 100 kill animations with zoom / shaky camera highlighting everything.

Honestly didn't feel anything like Mad Max to me...more like an exaggerated satire.

I don't have anything against mindless romps (spent enough time in JustCause2), but the whole fight sequence / camera stuff just got incredibly old fast.

This looks like a game I'd enjoy immensely, but I'm trying to hold off until it's cheaper.

I had been playing for a bit since release and while its not a 100% must have for me personally it is a good game to kill some time in and futz around, and just have some fun.

As CPA mentioned there is a lot of hand holding, and the 1 quirk you cannot fast travel with any other car other than the Magnum Opus is odd

I agree that i would not pay full price for it, but at $30 or so its a decent deal

been playing it a bit. not bad. combat is fairly fun although tends to get repetitive and easy after awhile. Actually, I can see this whole game getting repetitive very quickly.

one thing I find annoying is that sometimes trying to find all of the scrap or whatever in the locations is hard to find. there's 1 place i went (oil producing place) and I found everything but 1 scrap. I search the place top to bottom 4 times and still couldn't fin it. even looked around outside the walls.

I've found two places, on which is an oil rig, that has scrape in places that at the moment don't seem to be accessible. I would need some way to fly or jump much higher to get to it. I'm wondering if there's something I haven't gotten yet. I will admit I have done very little of the story and just gone around taking down snipers, warcrows, camps, doing the races and destroying the convoys, which are the hardest task to complete.

Are you guys playing this with KB+M or controller? I've been looking for a new game to play in my theater with a controller and hope this will do the job. Typically I'm a KB+M guy at my desk on my main gaming PC but lately I've been wanting to just sit back in my recliner and have fun on the big screen.

I ended up at 27 hours played according to steam. But i did leave it just sitting a lot. Id say i finished more in the 15-20 hour mark.

I found it to be a fun game at first but towards the end i start to get a bit bored with it. Just too repetitive. The Jett Territory definitely is the best as theres a ton to do. But if just playing the main story (which i ended up mostly just playing the main with a few side missions) you barely go to some of the zones. In fact theres one area i never went to at all. The story was pretty meh too.

But for the 20 bucks i paid (which you can still get it for) its worth it. I did enjoy it and might not have found it as repetitive had i not played it over three days and rather spread it out.

From what everyone is saying, it seems to be better suited to a controller.
I imagine you would have a great time sitting back on your recliner.

I bought the game off GMG with a 40% off coupon last week but I kind of regret not getting the game on the Xbox One since it seems to play better with a controller.

Not sure I can but I will try to gift it to my brother but i'm not sure Steam will let me do this since I bought it "for myself"...
