Fun game, but I can tell it's going to get very repetitive around 20-30 hours in. Hand to hand combat seems pretty much impossible to lose especially after a couple of upgrades just like Batman/Shadow of Mordor. Even with everyone amp'd by the warcrier they are still easy.

About 12 hours in or so, fun game. The only gripe I have is with the combat. It's batman style but it's clunkier and not as entertaining. In the batman games you're able to counter as soon as you push the button, even if you're mid-combo. In MM it seems like if you're already in the middle of throwing a punch and somebody is going to hit you, you can't do a counter until the punch animation ends... which is made frustrating with how slow Max is. Makes everything seem slower and clunky compared to the batman combat.

That said, I still like everything else. I like the variety in the strongholds, camps and such. Each balloon location is also different. Sometimes they have enemies, sometimes they don't, sometimes they need fuel, sometimes they need ties released, and all of that variety makes it seem less tedious. Compare that to FarCry 4's towers or Assassin's Creed viewpoints which don't have very much variety at all, and seem more like a chore than anything.

Car combat is very solid, and since I'm early in the game I still feel vulnerable (which is good). We'll see how the rest of the game goes as far as pacing and potentially getting overpowered goes. Glad I got this now. It's exactly the type of sandbox game I needed waiting for JC3

What i'm really digging about this game are all the little extras. Main game is good, but finding all the scrap areas and valuable vehicles is very fun. Played for a few hours last night and literally just drove to unexplored areas. Didn't use the balloon in one area because I wanted to stumble upon things myself. Huge explorable area even if you think it's all desert.

I'm not sure how far in I am but I get my car wrecked very easily even after many upgrades. Doesn't take much, especially when trying to take down a convoy, and even more so if the enemy cars are armored.

Finished the game last night. Around 60 hours. Of course I still have many things I can finish up on. Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. B+.

Grabbed the game on $12.99 sale CDKeys, only an hour in and it has caught my attention. Pretty cool so far, combat works OK. Graphics look good and fluid - getting about 120fps on very high i7 6700k + GTX 970. Vehicle with kb+mouse is a little clunky but not too bad. I wasn't into Batman or Mordor, I did like Sleeping Dogs and this feels similar.

about mission 10 you'll hit a wall of "repetitive-ness" don't get stuck doing side ops. Go for the main missions! don't get caught up trying to extract everyone.

To me the combat was impossible to lose, especially once you get rage, you can't be blocked. Even the boss guys were a joke, you get so powerful with upgrades really quick in that game.

Yeah, the last 2 bosses, if leveled up right, are rather easy. I had finished the game and was pretty maxed (pun) out and realized I didn't do 2 5 star leveled camps. Went in and pretty just breezed through it. I have about 5 minefields to clear for 100% completion. Not really feeling any replay value. I'm hoping there will be some DLC for the PC but am not counting on it. I did enjoy it tho. Got around 70 hours on it. Nowhere near the 280 I put in GTAV but better than the 5 I put in the last bioshock game.

i'm about 77 hours and I just finished mission 38 (So I can get the silencer specialist -- only to realize the only benefit is the Wu Pistol unlimited supressor weapon... nothing else!)

I am doing about half of side missions and so far with upgrades and scrap, breezing through it. I am really enjoying it though. The graphics and sound (especially) is very satisfying for some reason - the atmosphere, storms, roar of the engine.. even the clunking of the car as it hits the ground. Def keeping me busy

I'm playing it in small bursts, so I'm pretty much being a completionist. I've completely cleared out Jeet and Gutgashes areas. I'm most of the through Pinkeye's.

I've got all my personal upgrades, point upgrades, and all the car upgrades I can get to this point, and 10,000 scrap to spare.

Well worth the $16. I could see this becoming a bit monotonous if you played for multi-hour bender, but I'm having a lot of fun.

Yeah, I've been playing for 1-2 hours at a time just a couple times a week at most. That's been enough to keep me interested and not too bored yet, but I'm only just now finishing Jeet's stuff up and starting to do more in Gutgash's area. I've made it through the Jaw but didn't drive all the way to Pinkeye's stronghold yet. Figured I should clear out Jeet's area more and get more vehicle upgrades before going too far.

As a side note, has anybody watched the new Mad Max movie AFTER playing this game for a while? I saw it before the game came out, but then just rewatched it again and IMO it made me appreciate some of the details the game has that I didn't really notice before. There's so much chaos in the movie it's hard to follow, but they totally used a grapple hook to tear off some of the armor on a buzzard vehicle and it made me smile.

Yep, saw the movie a coupla months before the game and once again after I finished the game. Made the movie better somehow. Feel like redoing the game but I only need 4 more cars for 100% completion.

I finally got around to playing this. I give it an A+. It is a very immersive world, and borrows elements from many of my favorite sandbox games. I played this with my trusty old wired 360 controller.

I also do not understand complaints about the combat being too easy. What game have you played, where if you have unlocked a fair percent of the moves, you still got your ass handed to you? I cannot think of one. Outside of some wonky boss battle like the end of Conan. If you want to beat a bunch of goons without taking damage, you have to be deliberate, and not button mash. Later in the game you may need to roll frequently as well. And using the gut shot is straight up gansta; love it. The belly to back suplex is the perfect move for exemplifying murderous rage as well. Do not buy the moves or increase the life bar, and see how that works out for you.

This is a good pick for a Halloween night gaming session too. The dark underground sections, the shaky flashlight, the eerie screams, and the dudes popping out of the sand, are pretty creepy.

There are a few things mechanics wise, I found a bit irritating, but nothing too bad. I do not like having to stand in the exact spot on pry bar crates or always having to hold A to open everything. And, unless I am doing something wrong, losing control of the car's steering every time you aim.

I still have not seen the movie yet, but this has pushed me to watch it this weekend.

I really liked the game but didn't finish it, I didn't feel the need to
beat the final boss for a 3rd time.

Not sure how far you're into it, but the handling rating on your vehicle is pretty important. The car handles terribly at first, but it makes any upgrades you get to handling feel that much more useful.

Yeah I def want to watch the movie too now. Game is a solid 8 imo, I agree completely its a nice mix mash of different sandbox games, hindered only by very minor flaws. I'm not finished yet but have most of the upgrades except the V8. Its a little repetitive picking up scrap and like you said hold button for this and that. Max's movement is a bit clunky and reminds me a bit of Resident Evil 4. If they would've made the movement Tomb Raider like it would've been even better. Driving and fighting mechanics is much better now after all the upgrades. I was overwhelmed in the beginning but wish now there were even more upgrades and variety side missions. I am still very much impressed with the sound - the sound effects, engine, explosions and storms sound awesome with a subwoofer.

I agree on most points. Exceptions: I expect to have to grind to level up or buy abilities, Fallout style, so I do not mind that. And now I have to move my gaming PC to the living room so I can play it through the HT system. Since so many have gushed about the audio. I have been playing with fairly cheapo Sennheiser HD 212pro cans I have been using for like a decade now.

I did a leisurely first play through that took nearly 70hrs. And the hardest part of the game for me,
was picking the right setup to beat Stankgum. I would have handling issues and take too much damage, and/or be too heavy to catch up quickly enough if I spun out or hit a wall.
I thought it was the real high point of the play through. As any time a game throws something at me I need to work out how to beat, it feels... worthwhile, I guess, is the best description for it.

I really liked the game but didn't finish it, I didn't feel the need to

Lulz! That brings up other small gripes.
I was pissed he killed Hope and Glory and was looking forward to Fing him up. That being ruined made me feel cheated. The guilty must be punished! I would also have liked a more "dealer's choice" approach to certain things they held our hands through. It is a very adult game in some ways, why not treat us like adults and make us use the old school trial and error approach we came up on? And arbitrarily not letting certain weapons do damage because of said hand holding style of task completion. Point us at the target and let us work out how to take it down.

Still A+ imo for delivering a much better experience than I anticipate having whenever there is a movie tie-in. And for getting me immersed enough to be emotionally invested in some of the characters.

Yah def do the HT system, I have a HT too but playing on Klipsch Promedia 2.1. Ramming and harpooning from the vehicle.. WHAM!

I don't mind grinding, the 100% looted sound is addictive

Just more positives to add everytime I play - vehicle combat/variety and map size is spot on imo. High speed car combat is fun. Drive if adventurous or use the teleport if lazy. I got about 48 hours in and its all good, if I don't get pissed off in the middle/end by cheap AI shit then I am a happy camper.

I know I'm close to finishing. Probably tonight. Looking forward to DLC or a sequel. I hope the sales will warrant more content. Many things looked very unfinished. (Or at least underfinished)

I still want more!

So do we like this game? I was interested for a while, but mediocre reviews kind of put me off of it.
