I don't recall them saying that. Besides I don't think Harry would vote to kick out Don.

I think Cutler was the guy who was going to give Harry the partnership, or he's the main reason he was to get it, so Cutler probably expected loyalty or his vote in exchange for the partnership.

I can't believe I waited until this year to watch the show. Its so damned good! I'll have to spend the next year catching up on the previous seasons before those final 7 episodes.

This (half) season was good. The series had became quite a soap opera for a while, so the return to business was welcome. Or maybe I didn't notice it so much in the first couple of seasons because I found the period treatment so fascinating.

I LOVED Robert Morse's exit in the finale. I kind of wish he'd sung something from "How to Succeed...". It would have been even better.

so can someone explain to me the whole don/megan relationship? i feel like i'm missing something.

i went on vacation after episode 4, and last i remembered, don went out to LA and told her the truth about his job, and she got all pissed off about that and was like "i know how you are without me there blah blah blah" and he was trying to tell her he doesn't cheat anymore, etc, and she told him to leave and he did.

then i get back from vacation, catch up on episode 5 and 6, and he goes out there and they get their 3some on with the friend, and they seemed fine.

then in episode 7 he calls her to tell her what is going on and the truth about his job, and she breaks it off with him?

i just don't get it or am i missing something?

Megan was NOT fine after the threesome. She was very distant the next morning and threw a minor hissy fit (to herself) when Don said he had to leave.

This marriage has been a free fall for a long time. The threesome just sealed the deal IMHO.

Go back to episode 5 or 6 after the threesome, like the morning right after. Megan gets a bit batshit crazy when Don talks about his "niece" (?). Then he runs off to make a flight?

The threesome was probably her last ditch effort to get some sort of functional relationship with Don going. He treated it like just another night and that was probably the last straw.

Pretty good episode for a quasi-opener, the Cosgrove thing sure was a curve ball.

Awww, FML, I can sort of understand the French, but not word for word. Then I read the sub-titles and I'm 10x more confused.

I was super tired last night when I watched Mad Men, so that probably influenced my perception of the show...

I think I'm very nearly done with Mad Men.

I've always loved this show. I've had discussions where I've actually said that I like Mad Men better than Breaking Bad - I could give no higher praise. But last night's episode hammered home to me that MM's plots are becoming cyclic and redundant. I've seen the events of last night's episode a dozen times in other episodes. Don throws away the old girl, gets a new girl, continues his wretched existence, wash, rinse, repeat. Throw in a little comic relief from Roger, Peggy, and the usual gang. End the episode on a somber note of dispair. Its all getting a little tedious.

Yeah it got really less interesting after the whole stolen name thing was revealed to people.

I just watched an episode from season 1. Man, this show was freaking outstanding early on. Totally over the top sexism, drinking, everyone smoking nonstop any time, any place. The beginning of Peggy's ascent. Freddy's line about Peggy's comments at the lipstick brainstorming is one for the ages: "It was like watching a dog play the piano."

Maybe the Army shows up to arrest Don and he jumps out the window?

Having the army to suddenly come and arrest Don is simply too out there.. I think Don will continue his descent into despair (maybe he will go back being an alcoholic) then at the final moment decide to end it all

What the hell? Is this the second time they used the f-word since this part of the season premiered? Got bleeped out both times. Think Megan used it last week.

I remember hearing on the Breaking Bad podcast that AMC would let them use the word "fuck" once per season, and they had to choose carefully when to use it. Maybe AMC gave Mad Men a little more room this season.

With just 4 episodes left in this whole series, I get a feeling that the characters, esp Don, are being shepherded into a specific corner. Each episode till now has shown various people give a piece of their mind to Don, how they see Don's soul/character.

I guess it's supposed to tell us that all that makes Don pause and think of the bigger picture, but with all that piling up so fast, it seems really fake. Would a real estate agent really declare to her client that he/his home reeked of failure? That guy Mathis going in and repeating Don's offensive joke verbatim would not happen even in high-school, and then he comes in and rips Don out for - what? For Don trying to give him some guidance?

But with this build up, (I am guessing here) will Don end up leaving advertising ? Maybe he'll go into an auto repair shop, become a hands on mechanic? Remember many seasons ago he disappeared and got involved with some car mechanics?

And something tells me that waitress (Diana) will come back to him... Everybody else is being lined up with something good in their lives (Peggy and Joan with new romances, Betty with a new career, Megan with a million $, Sally a new college...), maybe it'll all end with Don back to being Dick Whitman?

Dramatic episode last night, loved the Pete-heavy part of it with good old Duck sprinkled in, hated that they had to touch on cancer and give it to someone like Betty who has been the victim through 95% of the show. Don's story-line was curious, I felt it had meaning that I'm not picking up on yet aside from the "fixing a coke machine vs. marketing coke complex" scene. Good, powerful episode overall but felt a little lacking as Mad Men's penultimate episode, needed *some* Peggy and Roger at least.
