I've held off on getting a Madden game for the 360...but I might have to bite on this one. So far all of the press remarks and now this review seem to point to a decent showing. I'm getting excited about football season already!

Hope EA actually gets something right this time around.

Don't know if I should get the 360 version or the PC version. PC graphics should be much better and will be 20 bucks cheaper. But the ease of just using the console may sway me.

Agreed. Madden is built for the consoles first, then PC is sort of a "tacked on" edition. I know that up until last year, the PC engine was based on the PS2 and XBOX editions. Will that be the same this year?

I never really got into football games. Kinda allowed me to sidestep all the drama involved as well.

I'm looking forward to this. I haven't been excited about any Madden games since '93 or '94 on Sega Genesis. Unless the reviews come up bad, I'll be buying this (passed on NCAA '08 cause I have '07 for the xbox360).

Last Madden I bought was Madden 92 for SNES. I just don't see why we should spend $60 for annual revisions. 2k series were more reasonable in price, but they lost out due to the exclusivity.

Between work and having to do some plumbing underneath the house tomorrow after work, it will take me some time to post a write-up.

I agree that the exclusivity thing sucks donkey balls. I have not bought a Madden game since 2003 for the Xbox. It was fun...but none of the revisions since then have spawned me to get another copy. I'm thinking that it has finally got up to speed on the Next Gen systems...so it's worth a purchase. We'll see.

Slightly off-topic, but does it amuse anyone else how we complain relatively less about annual releases of these sports games than sequels of certain other genres? e.g. "Starcraft II is Starcraft in 3D, nothing new at all" Clearly, there is a double standard.

This one will be good. Finally adding in the "hardcore" features like player audibles and it looks like they have added player roles and expanded that stuff. Should be good.

Also, Madden for PC is never as good as console. And the 360 is the better choice right now.

I haven't heard anyoen complaining about Starcraft 2 as being nothign new at all (granted I don't read PC forums very often either), but it isn't fair to pass that much judgement on a game when no one has even played it.

We've been playing madden for 15 years now so it's safe to assume that typically we know what new type of improvements to expect year after year, although this years madden does indeet look better than previous ones.

There is a huge difference between releasing a sequel 7 years later with lots of graphical and gameplay improvements than milking a brand every year with minimal (and in the case of 06 and 07 for the 360...negative) improvements in the game.

I'd much rather they concentrate on a major release every 5 years and just put out roster updates each year for $5 or so.

There's also a difference between a game being released (Madden 08, 07, w/e, they are all the same) and one still being developed (SC2).

I'm VERY excited about this years release and the changes they have implemented this year. Additionally, this will be the first Madden I buy for my PS3.

I am a little skeptical because I didn't really like NCAA 08 on PS3.

Unlike many others above, I buy Madden every single year. I know that sometimes it isn't worth it.... wait... no I don't. I enjoy it every single year.

What specifically has changed this year to make it so appealing ? I guess I haven't been paying attention.. I was actually going to pass this year after buying religiously for the past several years.. Maybe I will just gamefly it.

I haven't played Madden since 05 or so on PS2.. but since I got the 360 now, gonna buy it cause I'm itching to play football again. Thats my reason for buying it.

So far, it's definitely worth $60. It's a little bit faster than NCAA 08, which takes a bit getting used to. Everything happens so fast, but this is the NFL, afterall. I'll try to do a little write-up later tonight.

well for one its the first madden made for next gen. secondly, i loved madden 05 and didnt bother with 06 or 07 so i'm really excited for this one as it is spposed to live up to its expectations.
