Anyone have it? If so what do you see as improvements over 2002? Better, worse, the same?

I should have it in about 2 hours

I've heard that though Madden2k2 was basically Madden 2k1 for the PS..... This is supposed to be an exact copy of the 2k3 versions of all the other consoles.... which should be a good thing

Cool!! Let me know what you think after you've tried it for a while. Thinking about getting it myself but don't want to waste the $ if it isn't much improved over 2002.

My review:

2 friends and I did the franchise draft. It was almost the same as 2002. You have to click on "view player" to see their height and weight (important for the big boys). Nothing much was different, that I saw.

Playing *is* different. Passing no longer requires an additional hit. For example you'd hit "action, action, reciever". Now it's just "action, reciever". I don't like this. Kicking is different too. Instead of an arc, you get an arrow that moves up at an angle and changes in length. I *really* don't like this. We all made some stupid kicks with it.

Franchise games must be played in order. I really, really don't like that. I hope there is a way to turn it off. The music sucks, it's more Tony Hawk than John Madden.

Game play is very smooth. They move the way they should. It's not just "defender touches the carrier, down they go". They have to try to tackle. It's very nice. There are modeled cheerleaders, and the crowd is animated. The AI is better, on the default difficulty, we all found it competative.

The fonts used in the game are italicized, and very sharp. They're nice too. It runs well at 1600x1200x32 on my system, which you can see below. Madden also shuts up more, which is very nice.

All in all, I like it.

Any specific questions?

Is the offensive and defensive gameplay more realistic? It always seemed to me that I could pass for 500 yards every game and keep the computer to negative rushing yardage in 2002 on the default difficulty. Also the AI defender seemed to be easily fooled by juke moves in 2002. How do those things stack up in 2003?

Thats called quick passsing, you can change it the other way you want if you like. Personal preference. Regarding who ever said AI was to easy turn it up to All Madden and you will get your ass kicked. I loved madden 2002 but there is one thing that is stoping me from purchasing the new one. The EAOS or whatever the online thing is. Last year and hte year before that I believe you could play online and everything, was cool. This year you gotta PAY. FVCK that. What kinda BS is that. I am really ticked off cuz of that. I would have the game now if it wanst for tha t

Does it run on Win 2k? It seems like every other sports game that EA makes either doesn't run, or you have to sacrifice features like being able to see the text on the menus.

It's a definate improvement over past PC versions...things I don't like though:

A) The scouting system is waaaay too tedious...I much prefer the old way of drafting
B) Where are the Madden Cards?!@#?!
C) On Pro (haven't tried All-Pro or Madden), it's still easy to rack up the pass yards...might be because I'm running Spurrier's offense, but still...

All the past Madden PC games were ports of the previous year's console game, which is why they sucked. This year's is new, and while I've only played a few times it's already a huge step up from 2002. The running game works, and you'll no longer see the 4th string WR making Lynn Swan grabs.

The game is great. Here is a quick run down on the goods:

1. They added more animation to the gameplay so you have a wide variety of tackles, catches, and QB Throws.
2. Cheerleaders.
3. Sidelines and crowds in the stands have been revamped.
4. AI is 10 better than Madden 2002.
5. Mini-Camp mode has been added and its fun as hell.
6. Preseason has been added. You play 4 preseason games before you start your season.
7. Gang Tackling is very nice.
8. Running game has been revamped.
9. Commentary has been revamped and its actually alot better this year.

The one button passing game can be turned off as well. People just haven't looked at the gameplay settings yet I guess.

GO BUY THIS GAME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Offensive gameplay is a bit more realistic for the player, but defense is another story. I've played about 5 games so far (all as the eagles) and every game the opposing team's rush yardage was less than 10.

Overall I really like the game, most of the changes make the game a bit more difficult (but I think that's good) and more realistic. I'd highly recommend buying it.

Have you tried online yet? Is it really where if you don't have EASO (EA Sports Online) you have to connect to others via IP to IP? I know with EASO, it's suppose to be like last years and year before.. but if they're gonna start charging for it after 60 days.. I'll be glad I got the PS2 version.

The music sucks...
Not a big problem since you can specify a directory of music for the game to play. However, I do agree that it sucks, especially that one song they use in the Gamecube commercials that's shown on t.v. every 15 minutes.

Mini-Camp mode is great. I love it. What I find frustrating though is the extra animations. There are defensive back drills where you have to swat balls. Unfortunately, the extra animations make the ball swatting a bit random at times, especially for the very deep targets because you never know if your DB will stick a hand up or jump in the air with both hands. Very frustrating.

Two question about the PC version:
1) Does it work with Win XP Pro?
2) I noticed Madden 2002, no one ever gets hurt. Did they improve on this?

1) Yes it works with XP Pro

2) I don't know which Madden 2002 you played both in both 2002 and 2003 I have lost players to injuries some for a few week and in 2003 I lost a Owens for good (broke his neck). But you can turn that off thank god!! get this game!!!!

I think injuries occur too often with Madden 2003. For instance, about 3 of my players get minor injuries each game. They are all out for a quarter or "will be back soon". I need to somehow lower the injury frequency and raise the severity of injuries (more injuries that will put the player out for a couple weeks, etc).

PS: The players that frequently get injured in my game have an injury rating of about 70.

Just got my copy! First impression is that Madden 2002 looks better than 2003 with the players, but the surrounding looks better in 2003.

It runs crappy in Win XP Pro. I can barely play it at 1280x1024x32. I installed it in Win 98 SE and it ran awesome at 1600x1200x32. Don't know why EA can't make it run great in NT base OS ( might be the Radeon driver too, who knows).

I like this game! I noticed players get hurt way more than 2002 haha.

Can't decide to finish my Tampa Bay fran. with 2002 or start a new fran. with 2003.

I heard they make you pay to play online in the 2k3 PC version. I have 2k2 and I get to play for free. And it's almost the exact same game.

You get a 60 day trial thing via there network but you can play IP to IP for free. Pretty big jip IMO. I can't even get my 2K2 to work online anymore, got some message saying EA doesn't gurantee it work after August 2003. Still looking for opponents with no luck, anyone know a site/league thats free where I can find others to play against?
