Madden 2003 on PC: What is the keyboard layout?

I just have the demo, and it is fun but I can't for the life of me figure out what keys to press to pass to different receivers.
I can't get into the settings screen to change the keys.

Whatever hikes the ball(D i think) should bring up the pass icons above the receivers heads and you press the key corresponding with the letter above their head.

edit: press hike key, then press it again to bring up pass icons

The best thing to do is go get a cheap $10 gamepad. It is preset and easy to use.

that would be good if he bought the full version, but crazy just for the demo.

I do that, press hike (left mouse button) and the press it again and it passes, but it is just to a random receiver. There are no icons above their head.

nah nah. If he plays a lot of games that use a controller, then it wouldn't be crazy. The full version of the game is $40...and the controller is only $10. Big difference....
