I choose nothing and continue to not support Electronic Arts.

EDIT: Also notice that the price is 40 bucks. If they had competition with the $20 Visual Concepts NFL title like last year, they would have to charge much less. As far as quality, well, we'll see...

me too, hated how u could do 20 yard scrambles with any quarterback in 2k5. plus unlike 2kgames, EA actually makes game for pcs.

I think the NFL signed an exclusive contract with EA Sports

Exclusive rights to use NFL teams, stadiums and players in its football video games from 2005 until 2009.

Hard to compete when you got fictitious players and teams. I wouldn?t mind as long as the game was able to be mod?ed. But not gonna sell many copies off the shelf in the shadow of McNabb on the cover and NFL/NFLPA logos on the box

I played ESPN's version last year for about 20 minutes and hated it. I much prefer the EA Sports version. Will definately be getting this.

Both had thier pluses and minuses but I felt the Madden series was always a bit better in gameplay and just more fun.

For PC Madden players, i think the PC version is going to be 39.99 everywhere. At least it is now at ebgames.com and gamestop.com

love Madden. Will be getting this one as well. Not having the licensing takes away a lot out of the game.

and the ESPN from last year wasn't all that... it had some good pts, but i returned it to the rental in a day.

They were down to $30 when there was competition, now that there isn't we're lucky to see it on sale for $40 if we buy early. It'll be back to $50 soon enough, don't worry.

What a shame since you missed out on the better of the 2 football games last year in most areas. Madden lost the running game hands down and has for a few years even with 2k4's 'superback isuues'. EA had to implement hot routes since they made sense and were 'in the game' even though VC implemented it first, not to mention the passing game in 2006 is just getting it's first full reload in 10 YEARS! How pathetic. Even though it needs major improvement, I bet EA does nothing more than add to the passing game this year and just roster updates next year and leaves the running game as is in 2007

I'd actually prefer fictitious teams and players. I wish one of the games would feature a rich sports sim alongside the NFL flavor. Still, decent deal, I may check it out just in case it's a vast improvement over last year.

I'm not sure why it would be though - without any competition there's very little reason to improve the game, no?

Madden always excel's to be a great game.
The gamers are tough critics when it comes to football.
The only limits would be the X-Box and PS2 now dated hardware.

Aint that the truth. 2k5 was only $20 and across the board it got better reviews than Madden 2005. Whichever game you prefer, you can't dispute the fact that competition leads to both better pricing and a better product.
