Hey all...
Ok, I have WinXP running with 4 drives, two are maxtor, two are WD. They are all 120gb, but suprisingly vary by 3gb (maxtors are larger).
I set them up on a Maxtor PCI card to do software RAID 5. Now this has been running for months without a problem. Now, as of two days ago, I have a drive fail.
Which one you ask? I don't know. Under Disk Management, it tells me that both Maxtor drives report as failed. Choosing reactivate drive on any of them doesn't work.
I've used both the Maxtor and WD utilities to scan the respective each drive, doing the full scan. There are no reported problems across all 4 hard drives...
Problem still remains that my RAID array is still unavailable! I'm going nuts here, because I have a ton of stuff on that array, and I don't want to lose it.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, including any utilities you know of that can scan the drives. I've tried a few, and hardly any allow you to scan drives that don't have letters assigned to them. Thanks all!
