I don't think you have a strong grasp of what actually happened here. The documents appear to be legitimate, the White House has in effect confirmed their authenticity, and when presenting them Maddow explicitly said they might have come from Trump himself to make him look better.
How exactly do you think she lost credibility here? This is very confusing.
I suspect that information wouldn't be in his tax returns anyway. Why run it through your own taxes when you can add a layer of complexity and scapegoats by running it through a few trusts? That has extra appeal as none of the presidential candidates for the past few (several?) elections have disclosed trust tax returns

Someone, or several someone's didn't check it well enough, or relay the information to her quick enough. Her second Tweet shows she learned it was older, after her original Tweet when it was too late to back track. Even if she knew what she had (she didn't) , she trolled everyone and revealed nothing new. Credibility lost. It's really embarrassing for her, not being able to admit that is just sad. I don't know what is or isn't in those tax returns. I do, however, strongly suspect that there is something incriminating in them, because Trump has resisted releasing them on dishonest grounds. And this stunt he just pulled to leak a cherry picked partial return seems like an attempt to blunt further inquiry into getting the rest of them. I am now even more convinced that there is something scandalous hiding in there.
Never been called a socialist let alone have a socialist agenda. I just want clean air to breath, clean water to drink and fish, reasonably priced healthcare for all, public education for all and leave the public lands alone, they are all of ours. You've obviously never filed a corporate return. Technically, if you're scamming the gov't out of taxes the easiest way to do it would be to claim a ton of deductions that aren't really related to your business. Like deducting the full cost of a vacation to Vegas instead of just the one meal that was actually business-related. If you do that enough you can drastically reduce your income and even take a loss, yes. But it's not a real loss the way most wage-earning Joe Schmoe's experience it, where they actually lose money through simple subtraction. Deductions can be gamed and routinely are, though how severely depends on the person, and based on Trump's history he ain't likely to be clean.
I'm not saying what he paid was right or wrong, I'm pointing out that Zerohedge cherry picking one year in 2005 where he paid 25% as an indication that he's paying a greater proportion of his income in taxes than Bernie Sanders ignores the fact that he likely spent many years paying nothing.
Then again let's not pretend Zerohedge knows how to use scaaary numbers.

There have been no recent presidents that have released all of their tax returns. They all cherry picked the releases to show the public what they wanted to show - they just happened to be prepared for a career in politics so they structured their tax lives behind more walls. Trump is drawing the same line in the sand just at a different location because his tax laundry doesn't appear to be hidden behind other entities. And I would be shocked if there wasn't something scandalous in his taxes - but not necessarily scandalous as "Hey here is a check for $4M from Putin" but more along the lines of unflattering tax schemes. He's got enough money to hire the right tax advisers so I doubt its illegal but he's got enough problems without people finding out he was using unflattering tax avoidance strategies like carried interest via his role as a real estate investor. But there are precedents for that too. Previous presidents\candidates never released tax returns showing how broadly they were going to avoid their own 'tax reform' because their plan didn't close the 'loopholes' they obviously knew about (since they were actively using them)
