Just some plywood at the bottom between the joists being held by some 1x2s and spray foamed in, did not really know what to call it. It's to stop any rodents etc from getting in between the joists.
Why the inconsistent spacing on the rafters? Big space between the middle two versus the rest.
It's just the way it ended up, as I wanted a rafter on the 8 foot mark for the first sheet of plywood to end on. Then did 16" OC for the rest. Some sites even said that 24" OC is ok for trusses but that felt kinda wrong so went with 16. I realized after though, I technically did not need 16 exactly, as long as I had that 8 foot one, so I could have spaced them more evenly. But the way it is now will allow for a nice attic access if ever I put a ceiling.
I may possibly want to use this for something else in the future so I made sure that I planned for that by making it easy to finish the inside and insulate.
It's a cool shed, but why did you build it so close to your house?
Had to put it close to the house because of the easement. But not allowed to put it directly against the house. My city is super nazi about building related stuff. If I had my way it would have went right in the corner next to the neighbour's shed. I don't know why all the neighbours can have them there and I can't, maybe it's a new rule or something, or maybe I just did the mistake of asking and should have just done it.
Also could not have made it a house extension as that opens a whole other can of worms, as it would require a permit. Then a $3,000 project turns into a $30,000 project because of needing to meet very strict standards, having to dig a basement etc. Then taxes would go up.
What I will probably end up doing is removing the grass between the shed and house, and using that for something else like parking a small utility trailer if I get one, or something. Then it won't feel so out of place. I'd have to inform myself what the city's legal definition of a "building" is. I could technically build a "box" there to store more stuff in it. If a building is only a building if it's a certain height, or if it has a door, then I can play around those rules to make use of that space.
