Looks like a good deal to me personally.
This would be a good monitor for the stay at home parent or the kid. But, for us gamers it would suck. 30ms response times.

Good deal, the only thing that would make it hotter would be DVI, I'd say.

16ms response time for gaming,

Is this 16ms a measured response time of this product, or are you just stating that this is the target a gamer should be looking at? Even though this particular product is advertising 30ms, I am a) curious to know what the measured response time is, and b) if this would be suitable for the wife in her application-only (ok, maybe DVD movie, too) lifestyle?

I snagged this deal from Best Buy with those two $50 rebates and 10% off coupon ($305 total before taxes). Am very happy with it and it's surprisingly good, especially for what I paid.

I've watched Lord of the Rings on it and it was fine - no ghosting or blurring, etc. so you should be okay watching DVDs on it, etc.

16ms response = 1/.016 = 62fps
25ms response = 1/.025 = 40fps
30ms response = 1/.03 = 33fps

It's been said before, but I'll reiterate: don't put much faith in response times stated by the manufacturer as there is no universal testing methodology in place. You're much better off inspecting the screen in person or reading about others' first hand experiences.

my dell 1800 FP works fine for gaming. its been quoted at 25 and 30 ms. not sure which it is - but it certinally isnt 16ms.

33-40 fps is enough for me. works good in movies, counterstrike, eq, warcraft 3.

so whatever. those old 40ms screens did suck - they were too slow.

if i REALLY try sometimes i can notice ghosting.....but i notice the polygon ripping more(in some games) so whatever =)

my 2 cents =)

Yeah, I have the Dell 1800FP as well. DVI off an AIW ATI 8500 128MB. No ghosting here that I ever see, regardless of what the specs are.

Now come on, did you really think I was that clueless? I was asking if the person I originally replied to was suggestnig that this monitor was actually 16ms, if it was a target he was suggesting, or something else.

Ok, that article seemed to focus on contrast ratio. Mind you this is a computer monitor and not a flat-panel home theater display. I would certainly not expect this product to perform to the level that my RPTV did when new, not my CRT projector. Its a PC monitor for god sakes.

So if you play a game with 100+ fps it will ghost? I mean 62fps is still low these days, is it not???
