Magical, "psychic", I guessed your number web page - How does it work?

Try this out. I did it 3 times in a row, and it knew the number I picked (and corresponding item), even though the numbers were different, and the corresponding item was different.

What is the secret to this "magic" ?

Edit: I've done this 5 or 6 times now, and it has been right each time. I'm stumped.

Edit 2: A little bit of searching on Google cleared it up. Still a good trick though.

Look at the number of "mouse pad" listings. Once you see the pattern it's pretty obvious (hint: it's a multiple of 9).

It's always going to be one of a certain group of numbers. All of those numbers will have the same answer, which changes from game to game.

Yeah. You get the same set of numbers no matter what you start with, and those are all set to the same "gift."

I am feeling dense here, but if there's 9 different things for them to guess at..how are they getting it right every time? I understand there's a mathematical equation at work here that has to do with the total numbers you can come up with when subtracting their own digits from them...but still..you'd think there would be some room for error...

And I tested the mouse theory...didn't make a difference.

Any 2-digit number you pick will give you a multiple of 9 - 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, and 81.

If you look at the final screen, all of these values will contain the same object. The rest aren't possible to obtain, anyway.

Really? You're stumped? Might I recommend number 27 as an example.

Look at the number you had the one time and look at it every time.

Will be the right answer.
