I'm not touching this one. I think it would be pretty hard to get your cc company to issue a credit on something that clearly says $15 off. If anything they'll give you a $15 credit but not $75.

I'll tell you exactly what is happening. ShopNBC leaks out a couple of these codes now and again, knowing they will make it around the net.
They never intend on making good on these deals. They expect that MANY people will never read their CC statements carefully or don't want to be bothered with returning the item. Those that do happen to catch it have to dispute it, all the while they are holding onto your money and earning interest on it.
Pretty good plan huh?

While MSNBC may intentionally leak these codes to generate traffic, your comment about earning interest on your money is pretty naiive. If you knew anyrhing about CC merchant acccounts you would know that merchants do not get thei money from CC transactions immediately. With a standard merchant account the best that you can get is bi-monthly deposits, but most are monthly at best.

all code requests have been pm'd.
OOOps Didnt notice your post zwiggle.

BTW this one doesnt look promising. I dont think the code is bogus...Just that the code is subtracting the incorrect amount from the purchase price. 75 off rather than what seems a more reasonable 15 off. I think it will be corrected and you will be emailed for whether you want the thing or not at the 'new' price.

As for the player itself--VERY VERY LOWEST QUALITY DVD. NO MP3 , SVCD, VCD capability. Probably only worth 50. I know I saw a pioneer dvd at toysrus for ~109 that was worth the extra cash.

Personally I think this one will be denied before they actually ship. BTW this company blows. 7 to 10 days to ship?????
Hell they think they are operating in the net days of 1996.

Yes, I do understand merchant accounts, I HAVE ONE.
Even if they only receive payments once a month, they are still sitting on your money. By the time you get your statement and start to dispute the charge, they have had your money for no telling how long.
Some merchant accounts do draw interest, particularily those operated by BIG businesses.
I receive interest on monies in my merchant account on a monthly basis, so I do know what I am talking about.

So I tried and the darn code didn't work. Any other suggestions. Don't mind a dvd at *that* price.

sbpd.
Take this in the respectful manner which it is intended....but your simply WRONG. Disputes ALWAYS COST merchants money. ALL merchants are charged a fee in addition to the disputed charge. This fee is substantial. Anywhere between $5 and $25 IF the dispute is honored by the bank (and 80% are) That is why merchants would prefer to do the credit/return themselves rather than have you file a dispute with the bank (your credit card).

I 'used' to work for the largest credit card processor (First Data Resources) and now do it privately. BTW merchants can receive their funds in as little as 24 hrs. The transaction fee (typically 2-3% of the charge) is just a fraction higher.

EDIT:
BTW pm's sent. incl the post below this one. NOTE***a friend who tried to get on this deal was unable to use the code.
He got this message: "Sorry, the PromoCode you have entered is invalid" so it might have been killed already.

Can someone PM me the code, too? Not that I know what the heck a PM is, or if I can even receive those, but I DO want the code one way or another! Thanks!
