I've seen these in several mags....but never for sale. Supposed to be quiet and efficent. Anyone have any info?

TMD fans are okay, just make sure to avoid the older models that had a lot of trouble. They push a decent amount of air, and the noise is alright, but they definately could be quieter. At 7 volts they're nice and quiet though, and still cool fairly well.

The key is to look for the models with a *metal* housing. There were 2 versions released (one with a plastic housing, and one with a metal). The General concensus is that the models with the metal housing did not have any problems (the Vantec Aeroflow's use metal housings) and over the hunderd's I've dealt with only 1 came back to be bad (the wiring was actually cut off at a point tho so doesn't really have much to do with the TMD fan).

Both of my YS Tech TMD fans that died are metal housings. The second didn't even last 3 days. Also with the TMD fan on the AOpen AX4C-Max it would shut off during reboots and then restart. I do not have that problem using the Sanyo Denkai 80 mm fan.
I'll be bringing the two YS Tech fans back to the dealer for a credit and I will NOT touch another YS Tech product after almost losing my nice new P4 3.0C cpu.

That is odd, I might have gotten some wrong information on the metal housing's, but I know that the earlier revision TMD fans did have problems, but as far as the batches that are coming out now, they seem to have no problems whatso ever that were experianced in early batches.

How could you have lost your P4? P4 have automatic thermal protection. Take a look at THD, they did a test and removed the HS from the P4 while the comp was running Unreal Tournament; everything slowed down, but the game didn't freeze and the processer was fine.
