Major A7V8X problems

I have an A7V8X, and as you can imagine it's old. The audio ports are I believe dying but thats not the problem. The system won't post past the initial GPU display screen on my Ti4200. (if you have NO clue what i'm referring to, it's a black screen that basically says your gpu information.) After that it hangs. I've tried several different sticks of ram and even another power supply which I initally thought the problem was (apparently the 12v rail was way to low at only 2.36 volts. new power supply fixed this, but now these issues have arose). Is my board simply on it's way out or could it be something else? I tried to get it to boot into windows so I could uninstall the nVidia drivers an try another graphics card to see if that was the issue, however it just kept on hanging. Many people have told me to do a memtest, but I've used five sticks of different ram, 3 of which I KNOW are working. Am I just struggling for nothing? Is it the board? Please help.

if you know all the other hardware is good, and it still won't POST, then it's a bad motherboard.

with an old VIA board, chances are good...

You've tried different RAM & PSU but you haven't tried another graphics card, give that a shot.

Are there any bulging or leaking capacitors on the board?

Check the caps, and brace yourself for the idea that it just might be dead. A friend's K8V Deluxe, a much newer, Socket 754 VIA motherboard, died randomly after 3 years of reliable service. I've got much older nForce 2 boards that simply refuse to die, but with VIA, you really never know.

I had an Asus Nforce 2 mbrd (4yrs old IIRC) that was dieing from a bulging cap, just prior to selling it I had to drop the FSB from 178 to 176MHz (& yea I advertised the fault too).

Bulging caps are not related to the chipset but the cap maker, the cap brand being chosen by the mbrd maker naturally.
