Yesterday morning, after playing World of Warcraft for about 10 hours, my computer crashed. I was tired so i just shut it off and went to sleep. When i woke up and tried to play it, I had serious artifact issues in WoW. I'm not entirely sure if the game was crashing but it got to the point where i couldn't see any response on the screen to anything I did (control alt dlt, windows key, etc). This was only a problem in WoW so i figured i'd install new drivers, that didn't help. I tried to take my video card out and plug it back in (in case of bad contact), no help. Tried reinstalling WoW, problem persists. Sometimes it's just artifacts but one time I also got a blue screen nv4_disp.dll crash...So I give up for the night, turn my computer off, and go to bed. I wake up today and when I boot my computer the BIOS text is completely garbled (it actually looks like one of those TV censors) and my screen flickers at Windows idle.
What I had thought to be a WoW issue is now just an unuseable computer. I plan to try to get a friend's video card, plug it in, and see if the problem still happens. Is there anything else that this problem could be or is it overwhelmingly likely to be a dead/dying vid card? Also, I know that artifacts are generally a sign of overheating. My GPU core temp yesterday was 58C for a system running at 48C in a 23C room.
