Guys Im having real problems with my Hd's. I am running win2k and I was watching a dvd, then I inserted the second dvd and I get a blue screen saying that there was a KMODE exception not caught related to ntoskrnl.exe. I thought this was just some bug inthe DVD software so I go and restart my comp. Except the same error pops up.
I cannot even boot into win2k anymore. I tried reinstalling but that does not work either, I cant get my computer to recongnize the HD. I even tried to install win98 and that didnt even work. Luckily I partitioned my disk so I copied everything that I needed to the second partition. I have a 2nd hd in my comp as well and tried to install an OS on that as well with no luck watsoever. Does anyone have any ideas here. Im in a pretty bad jam.
I had a Grub dual boot running, Mandrake 8.1 running on my second HD. I think it might be a MBR problem but I already tried to fdisk /mbr and that gave me a error saying: " Master Boot record has not been changed" I tried to use MBRtool 1.01 but it gives me an error, "!cannot read/write disk".
Also, before I formated my c:, I WAS able to boot into mandrake, which leads me to believe it was a problem with win2k..
Im stuck guys.. 1. Does anyone know how to restore a disk to factory settings?? The 2nd disk im using is a Seagate U series 5. Im trying to get that up and running so I can copy over my files from my main drive, then format that.
2. Does anyone know why Im getting these "cannot read/write disk errors"/ "unknown disk errors".
Please give me some suggestions... I'm really suck with this one..
