My grandmother had it. When it came on for her she went down hill real quick and passed away in like a year. Currently my great aunt has it and it has been a slow process with her. Been a solid 2 years of it being bad, like she will ask the same question 5 times in a 90 second span. It sucks, I make the best of it and give off the wall answers each time now to deal with it. She asks me what I do for work and my current favorite is I'm a tiger trainer for the circus followed by being an astronaut.

I never got past the words glaxo-smith-kline, but that doesnt mean it's not a potentially interesting read. I'll just be more inclined to read it when 2 separate independent 3rd parties replicate this finding and then someone runs a double blind placebo randomized control trial on it.

We are dealing with it right now with my mother in law. My father-in-law passed away october of 2011, and at the funeral we realized she was worse than what we had thought, as she showed no emotion during the whole ordeal. She stayed at her house til we forced her into a assisted living facility two weeks ago. Yesterday the wife took her to the emergency room, she was kinda out of it and was running a temp. Turned out she had a urinary tract infection. They spent like 5 hours there last night. Today the wife went to check on her after work, and it was the first time she didn't realize my wife was her daughter. I can only imagine whats in store for the future. I think in the past two weeks it has gotten noticeably worse. I dunno if it is her being out of her element that done it, but it's definitely worse. If there is a god, then this is the most f'ed up thing he could do.

My great aunt has it. She was always very slim and in shape but now forgets when she has last ate, so she has become quite a bit heavier from what I hear. She also forgot she smoked for the last 60 or 70 years, so there's that.

Not to say this isn't an important development,but I would like to point out studies have failed to demonstrate a link between the plaque from amyloid beta and underlying dementia. In fact similar drugs that reduce amyloid beta and senile plaque have failed to slow down the progression of dementia.

But this drug did seem to slow the dementia in mice, so maybe their is hope for humans.

In fact in the vast majority of cases you cannot prove someone has Alzheimer, when still alive, generally someone with progressive dementia with no known cause outside of Alzheimer is assumed to have Alzheimer, and on autopsy the vast majority of these people will be shown to have Alzheimer.

So getting ordinary, run-of-the-mill vaccines may have been slightly reducing your risk of Alzheimer's all this time?
